    Default 25 Day cycles

Since starting to TTC#2 4 months ago my cycles went from 27days too 25 days.

What might have caused this and could this be why we are not getting pregnant?

Is there anything I can do to Lengthen my cycles?

    Thanks

    Hi There Splish n splash,

    Thanks for your question.

Shortened cycles, particularly if due to a shortened luteal phase (i.e. second half of the cycle—post ovulation) can create implantation (and therefore, fertility) problems. This means you may even be conceiving however the embryo is unable to implant because there hasn’t been enough progesterone to prepare the lining of the endometrium for implantation.

There is a solution. In my practice I often treat luteal phase defects with great success using herbal medicines. The best thing to do about this is to find a herbalist or naturopath that specialises in women’s health and/or fertility to help balance your hormones. With the right treatment you should see a complete improvement in 4-6 cycles and you may even be able to conceive earlier than that if there are not other complicating factors (i.e. male fertility concerns?).

One word of advice if you are being treated with herbs before conception for a luteal phase defect or progesterone balance it is very important that when you conceive your herbalist puts you on an appropriate ‘anti-miscarriage mix’ until you are about 12-14 weeks pregnant because that’s the time when the placenta takes over and starts making its own progesterone—helping to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

You may also benefit from a free subscription to my Natural Fertility Booster, a weekly publication where you will have a access to a whole lot more information on how to fine tune you and your partner’s body in order to create the healthiest possible baby.

    I hope this helps.
