This is such a great thread. I have no IVF stories to tell as we are just beginning the process. I am hoping that I will be able to laugh at all of this soon too.

Well done ladies for such a great thread.

I've had heaps of funny moments well after I've finished crying anyway the most recent one was with my counselor.

after having quite an intense session, my Counselor said well your quite good considering everything you've been through and the road ahead is still very foggy, I offhandedly said Tell me about it !!! no don't tell me about it I know all about it then giggling Woops that's what I'm here for I'm to tell YOU ALL ABOUT IT hehehe we both had a great laugh .... very good way to end the hour of tears

Hi all, I thought I would add this as its still making me giggle hope it makes you smile too xx

Post from another thread - Friday 17/12

I have just had my egg collection today, first IVF cycle, so was a little nervous, but fingers and toes crossed!

I was so nervous waiting in the day surgery - went to the toilet 7 times! I had to laugh as my hubby stayed for a little while and I told him I hadn't been to the beautician for my waxing. He was horrified! and explained that when he takes his car to the mechanic he washes it first - they look after it better that way! hahaha

I could not control the laughter - such a serious day was made a little easier

Default Ha ha ha ha! ;)

I never thought about it before, but I think that there are a myriad of funny moments, especially when it involves DH.

Our very first Dr appt to ask for a referral to a Fertility specialist I had a pap smear in front of the DH... the look of shock and confusion...

As a Teacher I have taught Sex Ed, and invited the school nurse in many times to go over the bits and pieces, I never would have thought that my DH didn't know exactly how things worked... I had to draw him a picture on a napkin of my insides... the confused look was priceless.

The first external scan I had, the DR asked if i wanted an internal as a part of the check up "only if necessary" i responded. At that time it wasn't so we left shortly after that. When we got tot he car DH asked, "what's an internal?" When I explain they had to scan by placing the probe up my whoohaa, again the look, I wish I had a camera on me.

I didnt make my DH's appt to see a urologist, but my DH explained , "he touched me all over my bits", poor DH, he touched you all over your bits, "did he have to stick anything UP your bits?" I asked, "NO!" (with a relieved look) "Well arent you lucky, one Dr sees and has an external probe of your bits... god knows how many will look up my bits, or put something up my bits by the time our baby is born.... you poor thing" I felt a little mean, he is male after all, he was a little quiet after that, but very supportive since of every check up and scan I have had.

Hi I'm new in the IVF area, and just realised I have something to add here already!!

We went to our first FS appointment on Tuesday, ready to start IVF in Feb. Absolutely wonderful FS, really lovely man and quite soft spoken. Anyway, he was asking our general medical/family histories and part way through about me, he asked if I have siblings. I said "yes, two brothers" and I don't know how I misunderstood him here, but I heard him respond "are they c0ckheads?" (sorry, I don't know which letters to blank out of that word). I've thought he's having a joke around, so I've started laughing and gone "oh, yeah, you know, sometimes...they're boys, you know.. I love em though" The FS looked at me strangely and continued with other questions. I realised a good 5 minutes later that he had asked "have they got kids?".

Told DH when we left the appointment and he had a good laugh at me..he very clearly heard "kids"...I blame the nerves

    hahahaa thanks ladies.

Not related to IVF but to 20 week U/S. We had an IVF baby and was sure due to a psychic and the fact more boys are born to ICSI than girls we were having a boy.

When the sonographer said we were having a girl it was a bit of a shock for us.

DH lent over to me and said. " You sure they can tell at 20wks". I said yes its unmistakeable. DH said to the sonographer "Are you sure it won't pop out in a few more weeks". LOL hillarious. Ummmm no hun we have a girl. Its popped in not out. lol

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the funny stories. I have my first appointment next month to start the qwhole process so am a total newbie. This has helped me have a chuckle after feeling very nervous about the whole thing.

Keep it up and hopefully I can add some stories soon.

    Only slightly funny,

My DH works away so we often sign consents a month or two in advance. The clinic decided to let us transfer two embies and so I organised DH to do a phone consent just prior to transfer. The staff and I were in an office and once I had signed all the consents I used my mobile to telephone DH (he would definitely answer if he saw my caller ID). I turned it on speaker prior to him answering, and instead of hello he answered 'B***'s House of Pleasure, B*** speaking'. Needless to say the room burst into laughter!

    Good luck girls.
