Default Loose tooth, now its come out

My DD had a loose tooth and while eating it came out I am unsure if it is broken or not and what I should do with the tooth.

She does have a new one coming through but I am unsure IF the old tooth has broken inside how can you tell.

I cant ask her as she does not fully understand what I am asking.

I am a little confused if I should just let it be since it is a baby tooth that has come out.

I am also confused on how I could tell if the tooth broke.

TIA and so if I am confusing.

I'm not sure if you're talking about your almost 5 yr old or your almost 3 yr old.

If it's the younger child then I would take her to see a dentist because I can't imagine it's normal for a tooth in such a young child to come out by itself.

If it's the older child she should be able to let you have a really good look. If the tooth had already been loose then I would suggest it's come out on it's own, especially if there is another tooth coming through already. You should be able to tell if it's broken though because the tooth would (I imagine) be jagged or sharp. However if it's a new tooth it would be smooth IYKWIM.

Either way, if you really can't tell I'd probably err on the side of caution and take her to a dentist.

Thanks sorry its my almost 5yo, I did not know how the new tooth was meant to feel. I looked online but found nothing helpful. I have an appointment for a fortnight for check up but if I can not get in I think I can go to the hospital dentist.

I just didn't want to risk damaging the tooth if it could be saved by going to a dentist.

They won't usually save baby teeth. My DS fell over and fractured his front right tooth at 22 months old and he had to get it taken out. The paediatric dentist said it is VERY rare to 'save' a milk tooth.

Thanks I just wanted to know as they refused to remove a a milk tooth at 18months that was very badly damaged from a fall, so I was not sure if we needed to "save" it.
