    Unhappy Please Help.

    Hi.
I'm really confused, upset & beginning to get depressed, my partner and I are trying to conceive our first child but i have a health problem which i believe could be preventing or messing up my ovulation..

I have elevated levels of cortisol in my system.

I have tried checking for signs of ovulation through CM but it never seems to change and as far as I'm aware, never goes like "egg white".

I was wondering if (and hoping) someone might be able to suggest something to kick start ovulation and higher my chances of conceiving?

It's really getting me down and I'm at the stage now where i feel like I'm about to have a breakdown.

Please, any help would be great.

    Hi there Natlouise,

    Thanks for your message.

It’s difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes when you are trying to conceive. It can be such a wild ride but sit easy and hopefully I’ll help put some perspective on what’s going on for you and you will feel a whole lot better in not time...

Having elevated cortisol levels can impact fertility from the perspective that it is one of the hormones associated with the stress response. The solutions are varied here are a few that are going to help reduce your state of stress and anxiety:

    1) Vedic or transcendental meditation—you can find a teacher near you and we also have one in our centre (you can find out more about him through my health website)

    2)
Herbal medicines can be fantastic to help balance your adrenal response (where cortisol comes from) and reduce stress and anxiety as well as boost your natural fertility. Find a competent and qualified practitioner to help you with this.

    3)
Emotional freedom technique—it’s a fabulous tool to help you deal with the same situation, it’s self applied and highly effective! (you can also find out more through my website).

    4)
Here’s a yoga technique that will also help you right now... Take a deep breath and exhale slowly, letting your exhale be longer than your inhale—repeat 5 times and practice several times a day. It will really help reduce cortisol production.

    5)
Visualisations can be amazing and would be very useful for you. You can use it to help bring your hormones to balance, feel better, happier and more energised. Here’s a good little one you can use:

    - Imagine you are in a control room and there are buttons and levers for everything within your body in that room. Suddenly you see the cortisol lever is way out of balance and much ‘higher’ than it should be. You take calm, yet immediate action adn head towards it to bring it down back to the middle and you start watching all the tubes with liquid in front of it start pouring out gently instead of gushing out and soon you start to feel more calm, relaxed and happier.

    - You can do this meditation for virtually anything and it really works extremely well. I’m reading a great book at the moment The Genie in Your Genes by Dawson Church and in there he explains the latest scientific facts as to why things like visualisation can be so physically effective and even necessary for optimum health (and fertility) and how it impacts our genetic expression on a minute by minute basis.

    6)
You may also find that a FREE subscription to the Natural Fertility Booster an online magazine I publish weekly very useful for extra tips and suggestions on how to create the healthiest baby whilst overcoming conception difficulties and/or recurrent miscarriages to get pregnant quickly. See my website for more info.

Also, just because your mucus doesn’t become visibly (spinn) or egg-white like it does not mean you are not ovulating. There may be other factors at play here... there’s a lot of information I don’t know about you and your partner, however balance your cortisol levels through lifestyle modifications and more than likely your mucus will also benefit—giving you a greater chance of creating the healthy baby of your dreams.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
