The mirena did some funky things to my system too Mamaduke, in the end, divorce was looking good so I didn't have to deal with men ever again

The moods swings were terrible, I would fly off the handle at anything, bloating like you, cramping any time of the month, and my skin was TERRIBLE!! I had WORSE acne than I did in highschool!

I had it removed and of the sheer relief, within 2 weeks, I was back to my normal self

    Welcome back to normality Mamaduke

I didn't notice my hair thinnning out, if any, it thickened up

With the amount of hormones running through you with it in, I wouldn't be surprised at any side affect LOL

Once your hormone levels return to what they naturally are in your body, I guess it will

    OH NO!!!!

After falling pregnant while on the pill, I no longer trust it.

having very painful periods already, I don't want implanon.

Considering how easy it is for condoms to break, I never trusted them.

I heard about the Mirena and rushed off to get a prescription and an appointment which is for 3 weeks time. Now I'm reading this and thinking there is *no* hope for me in the way of contraception.

*sigh* I guess we'll just have to only have sex for reproductive purposes. arghghghghhg.

I have had the Merina in for 6 months and I have had no side affects at all and I would recommend it to anyone that has experienced labor in the past (easier to put in).
As people have said it can work for some people but not for others but it is a good thing to try. (I did with the implonon and that was terrible for me )

kerrio i thought it was great too, and didnt realise i had side effects, i thought maybe i was just getting old im only 28, but now i know all the bruising i have is a side effect too, i thought it was from breastfeeding...

anyway, i got mine out yesterday...
i googled self removal, seemed simple enough, so i found my strings, pulled them down a little..then panicked, because ive had it in for 14 months and being lazy never had it checked, so i didnt know if it may have implanted itself.. not wanting to rupture anything, i went in to the on call dr, and told him what i had done.. so he took it out for me..it was his 1st removal

but yeah popped out quick and painless..

now im wondering if i'll get a period, havent had one since i conceived damon..not including 2 weeks of bleeding after birth, and the month of spotting when i had it implanted... so over 2 years since ive had one..what'll i do

I agree with the member that said everyone is different...don't forget that people tend to talk more when something isn't working the way it should than if they were happy with something.

Oh bronny, trust you to have a go at taking it out yourself...you crack me up PMSL!!!

My hair loss has stopped, I've lost 2kgs, my 'bad mummy' moods have ceased all together and I gave poor ol' Papaduke an impromptu cuddle the other day and poor thing almost fell over from shock!

I have had the Mirena in since Oct 08 and love it!!!

Don't even know it's there and have had no pain apart from a slight bit of cramping in the first few days.

Sometimes I wonder if it makes a difference who puts them in too, my obs did mine and he does it all the time and I think he is brilliant.

    That's great.

I was thinking about getting one (well, I have the big box in my bathroom!) but decided against it on the libido front. I really lost mine on the pill and didn't want that again.

i freaked out though.. woohoo losing weight and "special cuddles"...

mine has only been out a few days, but damn im feeling fantastic, i didnt even realise my moods were being effected, i felt ok before, but now im walking on air.. also im overrun with energy, things seem easier to complete.. and i got my 1st period in over 2 years, but its great, i feel like a woman again..

also have had a spike in my libido.. just worried about making babies... felt so cheap buying condoms
