My DS has multiple food intolerances and is on prescription formula. Not sure if there's a link to his IUGR. Allergies and intolerances run in my family so I think genetic link is more likely in my case. Would be interesting to see some research in this area.

Wow i have often wondered if there was a link. My daughter 13 mths is on Neocate which is script formula too and we have been seeing an allergist regulary. We are currently doing the 'elimination diet' as she is on a very strict diet. She is intollerant to wheat, egg, dairy, soy, corn, cows milk protein. I am a coeliac so food problems also run in the family but my daughter has had the gene test for coeliac and does not carry the gene YEH. What problems does your little one have?? Its nice to know im not the only one with this problem. I think some people think i make all of it up for attention (mainly my inlaws).
Does anyone else have problems with allergies or intolerances???

that's just it!! he's weighted every week..a nurse comes in.. but we think he has allergies.. he spits up his milk like crazy.. so we tried soya milk and it's worse!!:S he's been crying like crazy just cant calm him down.. so the doctor wants to give him a special milk.. like no lactose and no soya... allimentum.. that's the name.. so i can't wait to start him on that and get some sleep: poor thing he's always vomiting and cramping.. and he's always hungry little guy but when we give him food he just wont eat it

well the pharmacist told me that in fact preemies and iugr babies have a lot of allergie problems.. so it is def related.. my son has been vomiting like crazy.. like exorcism crazy.. he doesen't get much sleep and he doesen't seem at peace..he's always gagging when i present the milk to him.. even with this one (alimentum) the hypoalergen one.. so the doc says that in worse case scenario.. it might be stenosis or something like that.. so he might have surgery ..i hope not.. he's gonna have to take an ultra sound to see if all is right.. he also has his liver enzymes to the roof.. which we dont know why.. so i have to see the specialist... they actualy said that my son has abnormal head and eyes which scares the s*** out of me.. he also has the fontanelles that are open eye to eye.. so open big time.. they're worried about that too.. he passed a scan on his head and brain poor guy so everything seems fine now.. but the future will tell everything..

Hey the stenosis would be pyloric stenosis DD had that she could pukle 3 ft a across a room its was disgusting, If you are worried about pyloric stenosis the scan should be done asap like in ED as they can become dehydrated and throw there electrolye balance out reeally quikcly.

My Dd has russel silver like syndrome and also has feed intolererance she is on vivonex feed fed through a jejenostomy, she also has lots of other conditons.

Just a thought on the liver enzymes have they checked for the syndrome called Mulabray nanaism, they present simalr to RSS but have liver issues as well, DD was checked for this one also, The other one is William syndrome from memory they can have liver and heart as well.

Im so so ry I didnt mean to freak you out, Just when you said about the stenosis and the vomting its somethng that should be lookd at KWIM

As for the syndromes, Dont freak out at all, Just maybe ask the drs if they have checked for them as IUGR are part of them syndromes ther are also HEAPS of bub with IUGR that have no syndrome at all more soo than not, Just an idea to ask thats all

My DS's intolerances and reflux are def linked. He projectiled constantly on bm and soy. He's much improved on Neocate, but still refluxes a lot. It oozes now rather than projectiling though. I wonder how many IUGR bubs have reflux too?
