Taking as little as 5 minutes a day to do breathing awareness breath in throu the nose out the mouth and taking that time to be thankful for the day ahead and think about all the good things /people/animals /events in your life can be a great meditation form

That's it, I'm posting in this thread!
Now I'll feel like the decision is official and I'll be held accountable if I eat dairy... although I will still finish the block of cheese that's already in my fridge

I've been vegetarian for ~13 years, and was vegan for a while when I was about 18-19. It was easy when I was that age as my diet consisted entirely of 2 minute noodles, chips and beer!
Anyway I've been wanting to switch back for ages, at the moment I only buy milk and eggs from the local "cruelty free" farms (I don't how cruelty free they really are but they have to be better than the supermarket stuff!) but want to stop eating dairy altogether. First for environmental and ethical reasons, but also to see if it helps my temperamental digestive system calm down.

But I'm so sad at the thought of no cheese...

    Good for you Baburun

Vegan food has improved heaps, there is a lot more variety now. I've been going for 3 1/2 years now and don't miss cheese at all. And I have a post on here somewhere from a number of years ago that said I could never be vegan because I couldn't give up cheese

Yay thank you for the encouragement!

I've just learned that proteins in dairy, and especially in cheese, are metabolised into compounds that interact with opioid receptors in the human central nervous system. Thus the logical (...ok slightly sensationalist =P) conclusion is that cheese really is addictive.
    Here's a link if anyone's interested:

So I feel a little less crazy now at least. But I'm surprised I'd never heard of this before, in all my studies of chemistry and pharmacology!

I shall brace myself for cheese withdrawal.

I'd never heard of this, it looks like a great substitute for cooking with (like mashed potato, sauces, dips, casseroles... argh I add grated cheese to everything!)
I'll definitely try and find this, thank you!

It's great stuff, we use it so much. We had toasties for dinner tonight and I quickly whipped up a "bechamel" sauce with this - made for a very cheesy sandwich! We use it to sprinkle on soups, pastas, stews etc. Cruelty free shop is dangerous for the wallet haha!
