    Default Calling all Vegans

I've been vegan for 6 months now, not sure how long one is a new vegan Only 2 years ago, on a bubhub thread, I said I couldn't go vegan

I only know three other vegans in real life, one is just an acquaintance, one is a new friendship and one is a friend I don't see regularly and became vegan after me. I'm feeling a bit lonely to be honest. And while I think it is the right choice and the absolute best thing I have ever done, it's been a bit tough going it alone.

Come chat to me and keep me company

sorry Chelle .. I'm not vegan.. but DD decided a month or so back to become vegetarian and is now thinking of becoming vegan. I figured this would be a good place to get advice if it's ok? I *think* I remember you saying that your DD is vegan too (as you provide food for her! .. any tips on feeding a vegan child?

Well, we are in the process of becoming Vegan (hubby and I, anyway) but I do find it difficult when I'm at someone's house. I always remember to pack food for the kids (especially because of DS's allergies), but I forget for myself.

Also, I don't like soy milk in my coffee.

I'm going to have to go black, I think!

Hey Chelle, I've been vego for 15 years, slowly making the transition to a raw/ vegan diet. Have to take it carefully due to health issues, though. I'm lucky, I guess, in that I know a fair few vegans irl, including 2 of my SILs who happen to be the best cooks I've ever encountered. Both of our families are at least vego, too, so lots of support for this way of life there.

Perhaps we can share some of our favourite vegan recipes here! *drool*

Might I reccomend rice milk? In my opinion, it is much more mild and doesnt have the strong flavour of soy milk. I used the vitasoy brand.

I trialled dairy free for a short time, and didn't like soy milk, but was quite happy with rice milk.

As a fallen vegan (longest stint was 2 years), I'll have to watch this thread for some inspiration.

It frustrates the hell out of me that there's a gap between my beliefs and my actions.

I have endless admiration for vegans. It's a fantastic way to live.

[scurries off to hang head in shame...]

Or oat milk (which has the added advantage of being lactogenic).

The soy milk in coffee thing seems to be a major sticking point. There's a vegan cafe in Brisbane, and I remember the one non-vegan thing they used to serve was cow's milk if somebody wanted it in coffee.
