Default Thimerosal - is it in our vaccines here in Aust?

I was just doing some reading. DS2 is due for his MMR next month and I was wondering if thimerosal is in the vaccine? Ive been trying to do some research into it, but have conflicting stories, one site says yes, another says no etc..

Im just reading into it now and the links etc into autism etc.. Im not going in blind like first time around with DS1.

Do they still believe that MMR causes autism in some children or was that theory quashed?

Im not asking for a debate, just advice please.

    Thanks

The link between Autism and vaccination HAS NOT been discredited it. They simply do not know what causes Autism.

The MMR in Australia is most likely Priorix®.

See here for insert info: http://www.gsk.com.au/resources.ashx...MI_Priorix.pdf
    and for professionals http://www.gsk.com.au/resources.ashx...PI_Priorix.pdf

A quick google or wiki search of the ingredients will give you other names they are known as. I hope that assists you as being non-biased information. I certainly hope its been removed after reading this web page.http://www.nationalautismassociation.org/thimerosal.php

Please report back with your findings.

It was removed from children's vaccines in 1999

Links to Autism have been quashed long ago. (except of course unless you visit renowned anti vaxx sites )

** just a side note, funnily enough it is contained in some Adult vaccines, i have never seen any statistics saying that adults suddenly get diagnosed with Autism after having a round of Vaxx shots **

But to OP, by all means research yourself, the link Miriam provided is an excellent one and indeed quashes rumors of vaccination causing Autism

Many studies in Denmark, Sweden, the United States, and the United Kingdom have now shown that there is no evidence of developmental or neurologic abnormalities resulting from the use of vaccines containing thiomersal. In 2004 a report by the Institutes of Medicine, an independent expert body in the United States, concluded that there is no association between autism and vaccines that contain thiomersal. Also in 2004 an extensive review of all the studies on thiomersal-containing vaccines and autism and neurodevelopmental disorders was published in the journal Pediatrics. Studies looking at autism, mental retardation, speech disorders, and attention deficit disorder, as well as other conditions were reviewed. Overall, the evidence indicated that autism and neurodevelopmental disorders are not associated with thiomersal in vaccines. The reviewers noted that the epidemiologic studies done that suggest a link (notably only by one pair of authors) “have significant design flaws that invalidate their conclusions.”
From the link Miriam provided * note the bit i highlighted in red*

The only vaccine that has ever been studied in relation to the Autism connection, is the MMR vax. No other vaxes have been studied at all. Combinations of different vaxes given together have also not been studied. The only two Austism/Vax related factors that have been studied is the MMR vax and Thimerosal....nothing else.

It is an incorrect statement to say that vaccines do not cause Autism, when the the only vax that has ever been studied is MMR. Even then, the studies that were performed did not compare vaxed to completely unvaxed. They have only ever done studies comparing vaxed people to other vaxed people. It would be like looking at people who smoke one pack a day versus two packs a day and seeing no difference in lung cancer rates and saying cigarettes don't cause lung cancer.

The Vax/Autism connection has NOT been quashed.

There is no closer link between autism and vaccines as there is to the 'terrible twos' and vaccines.

Great, thank you to everyone for the excellent links for me to read

I think I will tackle the reading in the morning, Im way too brain-fried to read it all tonight.

I just want to go in with my eyes open, our first child is fully vax'ed and starts school next year and to date hasn't had any reaction to any of the vaccines he has had. Having said that though, every child is an individual so I wanted to research before giving the MMR, the link between MMR and Autism up until now has me very worried, but at the same time, I want him vax'ed for MMR, does that make sense??

I love how they say "only trace amounts". In other words, what they're really saying is "we actually have no idea how much Thimerosal is in them".

    Default Thimersol

Please read this article about vaccines, the research that most people go on are biasis and need to look at who is funding this research. There are many fascinating points in this article. Thimerosal is toxic! Read the facts and make your own mind up about vaccines laced with mercury and thimersol.
