    Hi,
I haven't posted on this before, I'm definitely a newbie! But I can at least answer your comment about the difference between Clomid and Puregon - I've now done (or am doing) both.

Clomid is a tablet which effects the pituitary gland in your brain and instructs it to create the level of estrogen hormone needed for your ovaries to start creating FSH or Follicle Stimulating Hormone. This makes your folicles grow and pop an egg when you ovulate. With Clomid there are no injections aside from the numerous blood tests.

The puregon injection contains the actual FSH so it bypasses your brain and just sticks the hormone in your body directly. I also contains LH or Lutinising Hormone. They track your folicles and once they are the correct size you get a different shot of HCG (possibly Pregnyl), which makes them pop.

Hope that helps. Information is power, he more you know about your treatment the better you can make decisions for yourself.

    Stress, stress, stress...

Went down to Perth this week for my u/s & bt to check on eggs, lining & hormones, what a nightmare. I was told off by the guy taking my blood as I was meant to be there before 8am as the courier comes at 8:30am, I got there at 8:20am & the courier hadn't even been yet. Then I'm just sitting down waiting for brekky & my phone rings & it's the nurse wanting to know where I am as I was supposed to be there between 7-8am. However I was originally told to be there by 11am for the u/s & to have my bt done on the way down to Perth. Then she rings me y'day with y'day's bt results & from them they're not sure when insemination will be & I'll be told at short notice to come to Perth. Then I get home y'day arvo, I haven't seem my DH in 3 days & he asks how things went & I tell him. Well he wasn't happy about it at all because he needs more notice as he's got things organised to do in Perth when we're there & there's no way he can be down in Perth Saturday arvo & it'll be too hard for him to have to go down early Sunday morning as where would he do his sample?

So far this cycle I have had 16 needles shoved into me, a probe stuck up my hooha, I've spoken to the nurses more times than ever before trying to sort stuff out (i.e not being able to do the insemination Saturday & then having to call them back as DH then decided that Sat morning would be better than Sunday) & I've had to take my Mum down to see her specialist (she has lung disease). I'm tired, I'm emotional & I've had enough.

I seriously thought about cancelling the cycle lastnight but I really don't want to. I've been through enough & I want to see it through to the end.

MEN!!! It'd be so nice to be able to strangle them sometimes LOL.

What a sucky day! It all seems to happen at once doesn't it. You poor thing. Men just don't get it do they!!

You sound like you need a break. Easier said then done I suppose. We are on a two month break at the moment to try and get both of our bodies in the best shape possible and I am starting to feel a bit better today. We on purpose did not try (naturally) this month for a few reasons. 1. Cos I am just over it! 2. So I would not be dissapointed AGAIN and 3. cos my DH sister is due to have her baby this week and AF just visited. Don't think I could have coped with seeing her baby and getting AF at the same time if we were trying. This is the first AF in 3 1/2 years that I have not cried when I got it. I feel slightly empowered.

Good luck for Saturday. I hope all the injections and probing up your hooha pays off. I had the same probs with the nurses just assuming we knew what was going on. Some are better than others. I am at Bethesda Hospital and it depends on what nurse you talk to as to how much information they tell you.

You guys should go out somewhere nice on Saturday night. Best of luck and I will be thinking of you.

Mekiss, I know how you feel the communication, or lack of communication from the nurses can be soo frustrating. On the whole they have been fine but it really annoys me when they get things wrong with times etc we are not psyhcic and cannot read their minds its hard enough to deal with this without the miscommunications. It much worse for you as you have to travel to Perth and they should take this into account and know that not always can u just drop everything. I know they dont know and cant predict when the right time is going to be but there are some things they could do to make the process easier. Good luck with the cycle hope you end up going ahead with it, you have come this far.
I just had my second IUI this morning so fingers crossed. It seems our cycles are the same as each others!

    Thanks ladies.

Zimby- I have my fingers crossed for you, may this cycle be the cycle for you.

Jane- We go to Bethesda hospy as well, I like Gabrielle the best.

I rang the nurses this morning & insemination is scheduled for Monday morning. It is such a weight off my mind & it feels like I was stressing for nothing.

    Have a great weekend.

Girls I wish you all the best for this cycle! I hope it works for both of you.

Just had a phone call from my Sister in law and she is being induced tomorrow. I am really excited for them and can't wait to be an Aunty again but think I might need to try and hold back the tears. We have been trying for a baby since before her and her DH even got together. Hard not to be a bit bitter but I will suck it up.

I hope the 2ww goes quickly for both of you. I have everything crossed.

(Thank God I have you guys to talk to. I don't think I could ever tell anyone how I was feeling about this. They would not understand and think I was being selfish and self involved. Thanks Girls)

Jane- I know exactly where you are coming from, it's so hard to be happy for others.

Zimby- We are so cycle synching atm, I have my bt on Tuesday the 11th.

I had a different nurse do the insemination this time & it was heaps better. She didn't clean my cervix before inserting the catheter & the whole thing only took a couple of minutes. The best thing was that I didn't have any bad cramping like last time.

I still hate the pregnyl injections they bloody hurt, thankfully I only have to have them every third day.

thats so funny that we have the same cycle,
I'm glad you had a nice nurse its makes a diffence. We had two different nurses but they were both nice, they didnt clean my cervix out though either time, I havnt heard of that. But yeah I agree IUI isnt too bad at all, it dosnt take long and its not painful, lets just hope it works.

Oh Jane, thats not easy at all, hope you are ok. I know how you feel, I feel like we have wasted 3 years trying for a baby, whereas I know people in that time who have met their partner got married and got pregnant all within that same 3 years. I feel like i'm being left behind sometimes.

    How are you feeling Zimby?

I felt really positive this time around but this morning I had a dream that I had AF (she was a doozy, clots & all) & I've had cramps on & off since last week. I have my last pregnyl injection on Friday.

It's just such an up & down journey. What makes it even harder is you don't know what's going to happen until the very end.

I sometimes wonder if I'm ever going to be a Mum.
