The question is though: What constitutes 'sleeping through' ???????????

    12 hours? 5 hours? 10 hours?

My sons 18 months and has only EVER once slept 12 hours straight without waking up.. he's never done it since and waking 5 times a night is the norm now.

Sibel is 5months old and still sleeps through the night, AND has since birth

When I 'thru the night' I'm talking 10-15hour sleep..It varis but she always sleeps minimum 10...I'm so lucky. She wakes up maybe 2-3 times a week but we just put her in our bed and she is fine til morning...

The first time was the night of the 9th-10th of June. My birthday is the 10th so it was a lovely birthday pressy to get a full nights sleep. DS was about 6 weeks old then. He did that on and off until we started having supply issues then he was wake 2 times a night but when we switched to FF he started sleeping through. Since then its only when he's sick that he'll wake during the night.

All big kids slept through around 2 yrs old. My current baby feeds at least four or five times a night. So I think it's a while off yet

    Wanna swap?

Mine's 6 months and I can't imagine him sleeping through...ever. I think he did once at about 3 months.

I've just accepted it might never happen, so if it does it will be a pleasant surprise.

We co-sleep and he sniffs out the milk a couple of times during the night, dozily has a drink and nods back off. My bladder is probably more disruptive.

Lovelymum, the question wasn't designed to "torture" you or anyone else, it's just a good representative of the differences between all children. There is no right age for it to happen and we should not put any pressure on ourselves as parents to have our children "sleep through".

I think this is the perfect attitude to have. I went into this whole parenting bizzo assuming I would never sleep again and was pleasantly surprised when DD started sleeping through of her own accord

ETA My DD still does wake through the night randomly and that is fine too. I have no expectations still, and am always pleasantly surprised when I wake up at 7am and realise I've had unbroken sleep but the key for me is to never "expect" it.
