Red face EDD with IVF - Pls HELP

    Hi Ladies,

Maybe someone can clarify something for me. Dh and I are having a debate about your Estimated Due Date when undergoing IVF.

I have tried to explain to him that your EDD is worked out from the first day of your last AF and he has said that if we know exactly when conception has taken place then that should be the date that a pregnancy is taken from, so that we are in actual fact only carrying for 36wks with IVF and not the 40wks that Drs normally go by.

Can anyone enlighten me as to which date is correct?

Maorimama - You're right, they work it out from your last menstrual period (LMP). If hubby doesn't believe you, there are calculators at the top of the page & there is one for EDD. Show that to him, then you can say " I told you so"

If you did go by date of conception it would make it 38 weeks as like maisymum said, thats 14 days into the cycle

Kia Ora maorimum ... i had ivf in NZ and edd (estimated due date) was taken from lmp (last menstral period). But both my babies were both born according to the date of conception ... well before due date ... funny! So they come when they are ready!

Its easy peasy google IVF pregnancy calulator.

It usually punches in your EPU date and adjusts it to make it as per a spontaneous pregnancy.

I underwent a long protocol which meant that my LMP was actually over a month before my date of conception!

So my FS just added 2 weeks before the EPU and called that LMP. He then calculated the 40 weeks from there.

Nex is right. Because some cycles are longer than others it is always safest to go back 14 days before EPU.
