Default Is my 6 week old getting enough or too much?

My 6 week old is 3.8kgs (weighed last week) how much breastmilk on average should she be getting every 24 hours. She feeds 6 times a day (sometimes at night I have to wake her up). I always feel like I have too much milk, these last 2 days if I express, I get close to 150mls (though I don't feed her all of it, I don't want to overfeed her). '

I know with formula the average milk that they should get is 150mls per kg per day.. I think?? But what is it for breastfed babies?

Say if I'm breastfeeding her 150mls, 6 times a day, would that be too much???

    Isn't it tricky!!!!

With my DD, to figure out how much breastmilk to give her, I put 150ml in a bottle & let her drink until she had had enough... I did this a couple of times to get an estimate on what was right for her...

She averaged 80ml-100ml. So i always did 100ml. Once in a blue moon she was hungrier than that so I topped her up on the boob.

    Hope that helps.

I don't think you can really feed a bub too much. They feed until they're full and if they've had too much then they usually spit up the 'too much' part.

Thanks girls.. she's usually averaging about 100mls or a bit more each feed. But I was a little concerned as she's only feeding 6 times in 24 hours... she's been doing this since leaving hospital. She's gaining weight and having PLENTY of wet and dirty (lots) nappies, so there should be no reason to be concerned, right??

And yes sometimes she does spit up the "too much" milk that you mentioned.. Thanks again
