We are looking at getting a new car...

    Choices are..

    Hyundai Santa Fe
    Honda Odyssey
    Toyota Kluger

    Peugeot 208

    I cant decide!!!
We need a 7 seater at the least.
Anyone have one of these or something similar they can recommend?

We were looking at the Tribeca yesterday too SL. We're a LONG way off needing a 7 or 8 seater car but when we're planning on 4+ kids we thought we'd just check out whats around. We narrowed it down to the tribeca or the Kia grand carnival. The grand carnival is an 8 seater and the thing I like most about it is the middle row of seat are all seperate and all fully removeable and you can configure them how ever you like. On top of that the back row folds completely flat.

As far as fuel consunprion goes the carnival was 12.8 lt/100k and the tribeca was 11.6 lt/100k.

Yeah I liked it too but DH didn't like the price. There is one that drives round town here and it looks really nice. Come to think of it I don't know why Dh was worried about the price of the odyssey when the tribeca was worth more lol. he's just got the subaru thing stuck in his head

dreams ???? didnt you hear me, i said WHEN we win, and we were MEANT to win the other day.....it not a dream

its decent, its not huge but not small either

    to give you an idea
    Tribeca
    Overall Length mm: 4865
    Overall Width mm:1880
Overall Height (with roof rails) mm: 1720

    kluger
    Overall Length mm: 4785
    Overall Width mm:1910
    Overall Height mm: 1730 - 1760

    odyssey
    Overall Length mm: 4780
    Overall Width mm:1800
    Overall Height mm: 1550

so they are all pretty much around the same size for the body but the odyssey is just a bit shorter.
the tribeca though can fit my pram when all the seats are up but the odyssey didn't. so by going by that the tribeca just seamed to suit our needs a bit better.

mind you now i have a quinny zapp that would no longer be a problem

I looked at the Odessy, but couldn't have DD's car seat in the middle and put the side seat down IYKWIM, same deal with the Kluger. But then again, DD has a maxi rider which is quite wide, so a narrower seat might not have that problem(if it's indeed a concern of yours).

Couldn't comment on the Peaugot or the Pathfinder as I haven't looked too much at them, but from memory the Peaugot has good safety features as standard.

IMO best thing to do is write what you're looking for in a car in priority order.

    IE. 1) 7 seats
    2) dual front airbags
    3) side airbags
    4) ABS brakes
    5) price

Etc and then rate the cars by that, cross off any that don't fit the first 3 or 4 or your priority points, test drive them and see how you go.

    best of luck!

Yes the Santa Fe curtai airbags are def a priority!

We have a 7 year old and a 5 year old so no big seats just small booster seats.

so the odyssey woudl do us..but is the boot tiny?
I love that the santa fe lest you mix and match the seats to put down though.

Ohh you guys are great heaps to think about.
