Default Does high HCG levels = twins?

I just got back my bloods. Apparently the 'norm' for 5 weeks is between 180 -7400. Mine were:

    5 weeks 3 days = 15,500
    5 weeks 5 days = 28,900

I'm 100% certain on my dates. I'm having an ultrasound next thursday but am pretty sure I will go nuts waiting until then.

I'm hopeful of a healthy baby or babies but I'm a little scared of a molar pregnancy as well.

Do any twin mummies remember their hcg levels?

Wow, well honestly usually I'd just say that HGC levels vary per woman and it can mean nothing..

    But geez, they are high.

    You may be onto something.

My HCG levels were high when having Sean.

They said it could be either that I for some unknown reason just had high levels however they usually see higher levels with twins.

Good luck - I always thought it would be cool to have twins...

I was never told what mine were, but after some bleeding and being told I was miscarrying, they took some blood to be sure... it was a big stuff up basically, but before they realised I was having twins, they (as in the medicos) were sure something was wrong with "the baby" as my HCG was too high to be normal.

So it could be indicative of twins...

Or you could be further along than you thought...

Or you may have a VERY sticky baby in there lol

ETA: I just re-read my post and realised I am of no help to you at all.. sorry!

From memory mine weren't overly high, they were high end of the "normal" range but the GP never said anything to me about the possibility of twins...we found out at a scan at 7 weeks after one at 5 weeks for bleeding when only 1 sac was seen. By 7 weeks there were 2!

Tbhey don't seem overly high to me. You're comparing a 5w "norm" with 5w three days, by which time they may have doubled once and then some.

    e.g. 7000 at 5 wks with a 48 hour doubling rate = 14000 at 5w 2d, and 30,000 at 5w 4 days

    Just looked at my notes...

    5w 0d = 14,800
    5w 4d = 30,363

That was a slow doubling rate for me, possibly related to a huge bleed in between those two readings.Preg with single bubs.
