    Default Underwire bras during pregnancy

A girlfriend just told me I need to stop wearing underwire bras. She said it is bad for your breast tissue while they are changing size/shape etc during pregnancy.

Is this true? I haven't heard or read this before...

    Yup.

The wire isn't good at all.

Try Bonds Bumps maternity bra. It is just like a T-shirt bra and is very comfortable.

I was just talking with my best mate about this issue this afternoon!!

I have read that it can damage the milk ducts, so if you are planning to breastfeed, underwire is not the best idea I guess...

I too am interested in hearing what others have to say about this...how soon did you stop wearing an underwire bra?? I have 10E boobs and dont know how I will cope without wires

This is my 3rd pregnancy, and I always wear underwire bras, and I had never heard it before until I went to get a bra the other day!!

It still hasnt stopped me though, I still brought it, and am still wearing them.

Nope underwire bras are not good. They always end up hurting me. I think its Target that sells these bras that have no wire, and are comfy and they are usually only like 20 bucks, on special get down to like 10. I've had to change sizes twice and these things are a god send!

I was told it was to do with the milk ducts forming or something like that (cant remember exactly) anyways Im a 12E and didnt plan on breastfeeding so I just ignored the advice and wore underwire the entire pregnancy.

I never had a problem so Im again underwire all the way this pregnancy BUT I dont breastfeed, if I did I dont think I wouldnt risk it. But thats just my opinion.

Mat bras are surprisingly supportive even without the underwires! Did buy my Mat bras online though, cause apparently not many stores carry 10G in house.

I wore an underwire bra till about 20 weeks with #1 and then only wore one for 7 months of our 16 month breastfeeding relationship.

I am now 30 weeks and still wearing them, I hate the feeling of no maternity bras so am not really planning on purchasing one.

At home I would just wear no bra...
