Default 3 week old weight gain too much??? 100% BF

    Ok ladies

I have a question can your bub gain too much weight my lil man was 2 weeks early and was born 2.65 kg's or 5lb 14 oz

In his first week he gained 660grams

Now week three he has put on another 600 grams

Total weight gain in 3 weeks is 1.3kg's!!!

Is this healthy or way too much?

He feeds very well about 4-5 hourly, I have HEAPS of milk and he is very content lots of wee's poo's only a bit of wind from his "guzzling" feeds

Owen was like this and so is Jye, so to me it sounds fine, especially as he was small so he's probably just catching up! hehe. I dunno what Jye's excuse is, he was over 5kg a week after he was born!

Mine was the same, fully BF and he absolutely packed on the weight, in 3 months, he went from 4.2kg to 8.1kg, he's very robust lol.

Sounds fine, better than worrying about lack of weight gain

sounds perfect, its boobie juice how could it be anything else . My BF bubba has gone from 3.8kgs at birth to 9.9kgs at 6 months, so that's about a kilo a month, and they will def put in weight faster at the begginning to you, keep it up!

Thanks ladies, A few people had commented, However i thought it was normal too, Thanks for your reassurance!!

I had previously BF my twin DD's for 13months so i have no issue with milk only that i might make "too much" poor lil fella gags sometimes and my boobs constantly leak....

I love it though and so does he, Nothing better for them and he growing so fast!!!

I voted "yes" it's healthy with a tinge of jealousy! Piper's over 15 weeks and has gained only 1.2kg!
I agree with Startlet, that he must just be catching up. Kind of the opposite of Piper, who started big (9lb2oz) only to drop rapidly down the percentiles to where her body was meant to be!
Let your booby juice do what it was meant to do, and nourish your bub - which it seems to be doing a mighty fine job of I might add

My son had a feeding frenzy for the first few months of life and put on over 2kg in the first six weeks, then was in size 1's by four months! He's now slowing down

Sounds normal, healthy and wonderful to me.

My DD was born 5lb 13.5 and she put on so much weight within the first few wks of BF'ing. The midwives couldn't believe it and kept re-checking her lol!

Sounds like he's feeding well hun
