Default Has anyone had a scan & only seen a sac but later the baby develps?

I had a scan yesterday at 6wks1day and they could only find a sac even with the internal U/S - So Im thinking blighten Ovum

The tech mentioned that it might still be too early but he would expect at this stage to see at least a featus if not a heartbeat too. He then mentioned it was measuring 5 days less which he was a lil concerned about being as we were charting.

I have to go back next friday to re-scan. Just wondering has this happened to anyone else and its ended well??

No I havent had my hCG levels tested as I was advised that with blighted ovums they can still rise and appear normal.
I have to wait til next wk and re-scan but to be honest I dont want to I jsut want to ignore this whole thing

Yep. I was nearly 6 weeks. Well, I'm sure you know my story from the Nov thread; don't get too down yet. I would wait until the next scan before you let yourself stress too much. Best wishes

    Yes it happened to me.

I KNEW when I'd ovulated, and by my count on the day of my first ultrasound, I was exactly 6 weeks (to the day). However, all that was seen was a gestational sac and a yolk sac - no fetal pole, no heartbeat, nothing. I had an internal and external ultrasound - and had only heard stories from people who had had internal ultrasounds at 6 weeks and had had the heartbeat seen. I was SO stressed and anxious.

I had another scan 1 week later, and there was a beautiful little bubba, heartbeat fluttering away

I now have a gorgeous 12 week old son.

Try not to stress just yet as ridiculous as I know it is to tell somebody in your situation that

    I cried happy tears

Jamaica - its also worth telling you that when I was so nervous about it, plenty of other people told me that they had had similar experiences to me - 6 weeks is sometimes just too early to see a fetal pole or heartbeat. If they haven't seen it on a scan at 8 weeks there's a problem - but not at 6. Seriously - try to think positive ATM
