    Hi,

I'm Nic, mum of 3 kiddies. I am studying through Childbirth International and only have 2 book reviews and one birth to go til I am finished! My last birth is set for August, so I have a bit of time waiting til I am certified yet. But that's ok with me, I can hopefully get a few more births soon!

    How is everyone going?

    how fantastic is this!!!
i'll be starting my course with optimum birth in 2 weeks (after our move).
so i can't wait. i'll tkae my time though, because i really want to add extra stuff just for myself, as i want to specialise in C/S's.

i had 3 c/s myself, all for different reasons and all very different themselves...
so here we go i guess i'd not know a lot about vb's but a LOT about c/s's

    Hey everyone

I'm Tina and I'm a doula in Brisbane. I certified with CBI last year.
I love being a doula...I feel like I'm doing my soul work cheesy as that sounds! I've never done anything so rewarding and satisfying and with every birth I learn so much, it's great.

One of my mum's is due now so I'm waiting for the phone to ring anytime....

Great idea to have a chat thread and good luck to all of you studying!

Im Anna and am in Sydney.
Ive been a doula for four years. Studied through optimum birth and then went on to do CBE through CBI.
I have 2 kidlets of my own but hope to expand on that sometime soon.
Very busy at the moment with doula bizzo. Had two births last week so that went by in a blur and am pretty full on for the next few months so gotta be happy with that.

well, good to meet all of you.
i'll be in NSW soon, so maybe a chat up every couple of month would be nice as well, like a kinds a brain storming, for ideas, news ect.
because i think there is so much demand at the moment, there is no rivaliry going on, in who get the clients, i hope....

guess we all could learn from each other in one way other the other ??

I am Robyn, and I am a doula in training with OB in Sydney. I have birthed enough of my own children and am moving on to help others have theirs! I am really looking forward to learning more and chatting to other doulas out there.

    What a good idea Chantel

Oh Wonderful, glad you all came in to chat!!!

Tanya - I know, the info is amazing hey. I always think that every pregnant woman should read the Moduals lol I wish I had the info when I had my son. Lots of 'ah ha" moments!

Hi Nic - I'm pretty much at the same place as you with the course - the last little bit is dragging slightly!

Lila - I think its a great idea to "specialise". You have had the personal experience and it is obviously something you feel very strongly about and that will really help you along, go for it

Hi Tina - I'm in Brissie too! Not cheesy at all - I feel the same way. Look forward to hearing about your experiences so far.

Hi Anna - That would have been a challenging week indeed. How do you work around your children? Do you have family to stand in? (probably a question for everyone)

Robyn - thanks, look forward to chatting with you!

Oh yes Chantel- its amazing really. I was reading it thinking- ahhhhhh so THATS why i screamed blue murder at my poor DH.

Im only now into the second Module but thinking I should start advertising myself for the three trainee births? How far into it did everyone else start looking for their expectant mum's?
I am on the bubhub directory but i havent done anything else in regards to it so I might just toddle off and do myself a thread.

I cant get my head out of my computer- this course is so interesting!

"Specialising' is a fantatsic idea! Its what you know so your more likely to 'connect' with those families (if that makes sense)- you can empathise.

Lila- where abouts in NSW will you be? Anywhere near Newcastle? I would love to get together with some people who are doing the same thing- i think it would be fantastic!

Robyn- Im extremely interested in hearing some tips from you- on managing a large family and 'Doula-ing" (is that even a word? LOL). Im sure it all works out- I have some great support but im hoping my mum will be able to move down here someday soon. It would be so much easier if I could just call and say- come over- i need to go. If that makes sense? Rather than dropping children off left right and centre

I hope you all have a great day!
