    Question robot vacuum cleaners reviews

    anyone got one?
    used one?
    are they any good?

am thinking of getting one for my place but no idea what brand is a good one....

we have tiled and polished timber floors and my god if i dont have to sweep them every five minutes...

a little mini vauum robot that could do a bit of a spritz while i take the kids to the park could be just the ticket..

Ooo I want one too, so am keen to hear what people with one think... I am a bit wary that it's all too good to be true.

    Goes to theÖ

    iROBOT ROOMBA robot vacuum cleaner
    (CHOICE, November 2006)
Itís about time they invented a robot that vacuums the house for us ó itís just that the iROBOT has a few minor shortcomings. Like, itís almost useless on carpet. Itís OK on hard floors, though extremely slow, taking minutes to cover what youíd take seconds to do. And itís noisy. Oh, and ours didnít automatically return to its base for recharging, as itís supposed to.

But what really made us doubt was its dirt redistribution function: when the small dirt container starts filling up, every time the iROBOT bumps into a wall or obstacle, a little heap of collected dirt falls out again. iROBOT? iDonítthinkso.

Okay so we have one (well 2 as we got an outdoor/patio one fee when we got the inside one) I find the outdoor one great he lives in our bedroom and I pop him on in the mornings when I remember (might go put him on now actually) and no more gritty feet before getting into bed (we have tiles everywhere so grit is inevitible) the actual indoor one was great for a while but the kids hate him and he now no longer works (not sure why but DH is home now so hopefully he will be able to get him going again) but I found it useful to do as an inbetween vac and mop kinda thing to pick up the grit and crumbs that he kids track around the place but you do have to remember to put them on - if tey had a timer and could be set to a certain time each day that would be great (for me).
    HTH!

ETA we have the Irobot Roomba (we call him Sonny) and the out door one is Irobot too but he is a dirtdog)

What I really want is the Scooba which mops the floors!
