Mine is a 5lt - it's HUGE and yes, I do freeze meals with mine. My MIL bought it for me from BIG W a few years back and it was only around $40.

OMG - can't believe I found this awesome thread!

Hubby and I got a slow cooker for a wedding pressie back in March last year and guess how many times we've used it - ZERO times! Because I've just had no idea (hubby is the cook in this househould!) and hubby would never get it out!

So guess what - tomorrow I'm going to cook one of these recipes up! I wish I had found this thread this morning and then I could be smelling some yummy dinner now!

    Thanks heaps everyone!

I got a slow cooker for mothers day this yr, and I've used it so many times! We just finished having a meal from it tonight. Ohhhhhhhh sooooo gooood!!
I found the recipe on the net and I've cooked it a few times already:
1 can cream of....... soup (I've used cream of corn, cream of mushroom) OR use a jar of stir fry sauce (haven't done that yet but will try it next time)
    1-1.5kg chicken (drumsticks, wings, any)
As many vegies as you like, chopped.
Any extras you like, garlic, ginger, herbs, spices, etc

Chuck in vegies and extras, chicken then soup. Cook for 3-4 hrs on high or ideally 6-8 hrs on low. That's it!! Easy Peasy!

My DD2 who's almost 10mths absolutely loves it as it goes so soft and is easily mashed.

Vicsta am making your sweet and sour balls again. We just love these. Made the lemon chicken recipe I posted a while back and I wasn't that fussed although it is very low fat.

That is a great idea, never thought of using other meat. Will try chicken next time

Well girls - I think I'm in love with my slow cooker! I couldn't believe how easy it all was!

I tried the casserole thing that O&GMum posted on page 1 and it was so yummy! Even hubby was impressed!

I'm going to try a few more recipes over the next few weeks and if I get adventerous and try my own receipe I'll be sure to post it (if it tastes ok that is!).

    Thanks heaps everyone

    Hi guys,

DP is buying me a slow cooker for my birthday (on request - when you love to cook appliances are good presents!)

So I have copied & pasted all your recipes ready to go when the cooker appears!

Now I am all inspired and may not make it til my birthday... I'm sure he would agree to an early present. After all, it will be all to his benefit

    Thanks for the terrific recipes!

    Becbabe.
