My son went through recurrent bouts of tonsilitis until they were removed.

I just used to offer him soft foods such as yoghurt and mashed vegies etc as they are a bit kinder on the throat and small amounts of fluid often.

It really takes it out of them.

I hope he get's better soon

DS has recurrent tonsillitis too. Here are my tips for surviving:

    * lots of quiet activities like watching ABC kids or drawing etc cause as you say they get so tired,
    * eating ice in between meals,
*pumpkin soup, mashed potato, spag bog, fruit gels, custard, yoghurt etc.

    * the pharmacist told me that nurofen is better for sore throats than panadol.

I haven't used this but apparently you can get something called painstop from your chemist as well and this helps a lot with the discomfort - it's a bit stronger than panadol or nurofen but still an over the conter medicine.

Lots of hugs for both of you!

    Hey

    For your DS

This is my advice...my opinion, things that help me...

Pineapple juice, and tomatoes, as little dairy as possible and nurofen over panadol,(helps with swelling of tonsils) and not sure how old DS is can he gargle? Salt water? or better still Disprin...
PLEASE NOTE - NO DISPRIN with PANADOL..... One or the other.....
Plus lots of hugs and kisses, and lots of time to rest
