Dads away on Father's Day

Anyone else's children's dad away with work today? I'm going to catch up with another friend and her kids later to try distract our kids. Both our dhs were sent away early this morning for work. It sucks when this falls on an important day like today..
I'll be face timing my own dad later today and will give dhs dad a call later. But other than that just a lazy Sunday..

How is everyone else passing/enjoying the day without daddy around?

My parents are away on holidays, the first time I have ever not seen my dad on Father's Day! They have actually paid to change flights before when they have accidentally booked a holiday where they'd be away for Father's Day. But this time it's a 4-week holiday and they couldn't find another time to do it without it going over someone's bday or another important time, so I'm just glad he's having fun. I'll spoil hubby all day and have the ILs coming for lunch.

This is the first Father's Day DH is home in 3yrs. So we actually have something to do. It's very weird.

This is us too. And its also the first year in 3 years I have been in the same town as my grandad and stepdad so we are having a family bbq and then this arv I will be drivinf 2 hours west to go see my bio dad (first time in my life I have seen him on Father's Day).

When dh worked away, we would do something before he left or when he got home next.

Us too. Hubbys a miner so he's away at the moment, we'll celebrate when he gets home.

Both hubby and my dad are away for Father's Day this year (different places). My kids are fairly little so I'm trying to avoid making a big deal out of it. We're carrying on as if it's a Sunday as usual and we'll celebrate when they return.

First one DH is away
He is home on Tuesday and I promised a little celebration on Wednesday but I'm finding it a little gaff seeing everything on Facebook.

Df is working today. He left at 5am and won't be home until after 7pm so dd won't get to see him, and the boys will only see him for a short time.
My kids have forgotten about it being Father's Day and I'm not sure if I want to bring it up.

My DH is away, the kids & I will go to my parents for lunch today & celebrate with hubby next Sunday when he's home :-) I'll record a message with them this arvo & send to hubby.

DS was a little upset during the week as they made Father's Day things at daycare & made a big deal about it so made him 'sad' 'cause Daddy isn't home' he's 2.5 so still getting used to his emotions, poor little poppet was so overwhelmed.

My DH is working 12 hours today, so he'll be home just after 8pm. DS seems to be missing him a little bit, they're super close besties

DS and I are meeting my dad and mum at a local brew house for lunch.

Hugs to all with dads away. This is the first year we have had hubby home for Father's Day since we have had kids. We used to celebrate early/late depending on when he was away for work, so usually on the actual day we would FaceTime so he could see the kids, and then we would catch up with my dad.

Went to a 2 year old birthday party this morning, so DD (2) wouldn't notice anyway. Was feeling ok til I saw lots of things I'm Facebook and now I'm really missing DH and my dad. Will make up for it with a camping trip with DH and DD next weekend. Really hope to see my dad soon as well.
