Tessa nickname?

So I really like the name Tessa, with a nickname Tess, but my husband thinks, being in Australia, she will get called Tessie, which I don’t like. What do you think? He also associates it with a dog name.
Our other choice is Maddison, nickname Maddi.

I think Tessa is a beautiful name. I know an adult named Tessa and she gets called Tessa. I know 2 children named Tess and both get called Tess. None of them get Tessie.
