He's ten months old. He screams at me for food but then doesn't do anything I hope that mKes sense. We are seeing speechy next week. I'm not sure if it's his brain (I'm too tired for big words) or his actual mouth that's not working. Or him not wanting it. If I walk away with food he will be like 'where the heck is it going!
Today j tried a hard boiled egg and some turkey with hummus he didn't like it but played with it. Meh small changes.
He drinks water out of a cup. Messy but good!

How does BLW work when you want to ensure bub doesn't have any allergies?
DD has many and worried DS will too, but can you do BLW and still introduce 1 good at a time?

I started BLW when my daughter is 8 mos old. At first im a bit scared to try. And now she is 16mos old. Never regretted putting her on this technique. At her early age she knew how to be independent. She doesnt want to be spoonfed by me. She wanted to do things all by herself.

my 7 month old sucks and somehow injests chicken legs/wings and he's only got 2 teeth - hilarous!! As long as they are having fun, don't stress!
HUGE thanks to this thread - it's been GREAT!!

best finger food meats are homemade nuggets or meat balls!
Try minced lamb or beef or fish or chicken and mix with whatever veggies you like ( i usually do grated carrot/zucchini/steamed broccoli, peas, parsley & chia seeds) an egg and bread or rice crumbs and mould into nugget or patty shapes and lightly fry in olive oil! Easy to hold and great to freeze - my DS favourite was crab cakes!
or make a salt free bolognese for pasta ( again use chicken or turkey or beef or lamb) , homemade fish fingers (boneless flat head is good for this )
My son was gumming slices of poached chicken at 7 months and lamb cutlets at 8 months - their little gums are very hard and they tear pieces of the meat off! or just flake some cooked salmon or fish or prawns and let her pick it up on her tray

Hi to all,
Just update that my little one is going great guns! Hardly ever gags now and is really enjoying his finger food... doing better with puree stuff too so we're doing everything and loving it. THANKS heaps!

Gagging is completely normal. It is NOT them choking, but learning how to move food around their mouth.

A great first finger food to try is cut cucumber ( cut lengthways into thick sticks, skin on) as it's great to hold and they gum off the soft flesh and learn to chew and swallow but it's too hard to gum off the thick skin - they are great as dipper sticks too - yogurt, avocado or tzatiki dips!

Thanks...
tried banana and ended up gagging and then vomitting up the banana AND lots of milk with itBit scary but he wasn't too upset...
Tonight had a go chewing on a green bean and some broccoli - bit messy but went ok (I don't believe he swallowed anything though...)
I'll read back re choking/gagging - not sure it's safe?? and of course my mum was horrified
