  • What is too fake? Fluff thread

So I'm buying a dress today and its something I would have worn before I was pregnant. Now that my son has been born I could really do with wearing some shape wear to smooth out the bumps. But I really don't like the idea of shape wear, it seems almost like cheating.

I really don't get why I feel this way. I'm fine with makeup, styling hair, pushup bras and fake tan. But I think fake nails, hair extensions and shape wear are "cheating".

    What does everyone else think?

I'd sooner see someone with shapewear under their dress than an orange fake bake.

Why is a smoothing garment any different to a push up bra?

No it isn't any different to a pushup bra. Or any bra for that matter. I think I'm just mourning the loss of not needing shape wear

I don't care about what other people put on their body as long as its not hurting me, if it makes someone feel better about themself, all power to them!

I agree with this! A push up bra is gonna enhance your boobs also if you don't wanna cheat on wearing shape wear then don't cheat on enhancing your boobs and tan.

In addition though it feels good to have uplifted boobs and a nice body and getting my nails done can be therapeutic I'm not saying its wrong by any means because I would do it just agreeing with pp

Whatever makes people feel better about themselves be that shape wear, push up bra, chicken fillets in ur bra, gel nails, straightened hair, make up etc etc.

Oh and id rather see someone with a fake tan than someone glowing red from sunbaking all day

I think you should do what you are comfortable doing.
Im pretty "fake" when it comes to looks but that's because I really enjoy looking a certain way. And I enjoy doing the "fake" stuff.
A lot of mums at school laugh at me and make fun of me behind my back but really it's not about me it's about their own insecurities.
If they where happy in trackies and no makeup they wouldn't give a toss about how I looked. I dont mind how they look.
So do what makes you feel good.
It's not cheating anymore the wearing makeup or colouring hair.
Its all just a bit of fun. Dont take it to seriously....

Ok, I actually didn't mean for others. I don't care what anyone else chooses to wear or how they present themselves. What I meant is this is where I draw the line for me. Like if I use makeup it's an enhancement, whereas acrylic nails on me feel too far into being "fake" as do hair extensions.

I meant for more of a discussion on where everyone else draws the line.

Oh ok in that case I have no line and no limit... Lol
As long as I feel good doing it.

I don't consider any to far in the way of 'fake' unless you're doing it all at one lol. But even then it might just be for a certain occasion and it's ok.

For me the line is more financially and time drawn than image

Spent from my dome. Excuse autocorrect
