Things people dont think about when having babies really close together....

1. They will all be teenagers at the same time. This is not necessarily a good thing. lol. I honestly did not even think of it when I had all mine close together. I sure do now!

2. If you have girls the costs of buying nappies as toddlers is more than made up for buying sanitary items, makeup and deoderant when they hit the teen years... In fact having so many teenage girls in my house, I am thinking of buying shares in Kotex.

3. As toddlers you think it will be awesome and that they will have so much in common and grow up together.... but getting along is more a personality thing than an age thing.

4. Technology is getting really expensive and becoming compulsory at school.

I'm grateful my girls at least are spread apart. 4 years between the first two and then nearly 8 between my middle and last girl.
I couldn't do back to back female puberty!

I have already noticed a few negatives to a close age gap.
My first two are only 15 months apart and they play so well together and have a great time.
The oldest had just started kindy 3 days a week and the second is feeling so left out. While my third child who is 1 ( so three year gap from the first) is coping fine. So I guess I view that as a negative because of the close gap he really missed his playmate while the bigger gap- third child doesn't notice as much.

I imagine that there are plenty of negative for close gaps when they are teenagers. I think a house full of teenagers is hard on anyone haha.

I am constantly reminding my husband that before we know it, our house will have a 17yo, 15yo, 14yo and 13yo in it.
He tells me not to remind him haha.
17, 15 and 13 male, 14 is female.

I have both big and little gaps.
Personally i dont think it really matters. Both gap sizes have there pros and cons.

I think about this all the time!
Mine are 6, 5 and 4. When they were tiny people were always asking,
"How do you do it?!"
My stock standard answer was, babies and toddlers are cool, it's 10 years down the track I'm worried about!

I hear you on the technology thing- both my boys needed iPads this year. Couldn't use hand-me-downs from one to next. As they get older they develop more expensive tastes in clothing and accessories and you can't get it for just one, it has to be for both! [emoji57]

We already struggle as we live 300kms from the shops so have to do a fortnights in one go. Have bought roof boxes and eskies for the car so we can fit the shopping haha. And we use the little kitchen pantry, plus have a whole double wide bookcase to hold all the things like canned vege and cereals (which I buy in bulk). We have also started growing our own vege. Going to end up with a few potato barrels I think.
Fruit in another killer. They go through mountains of it. My second born, he will eat between 6 and 10 apples when he gets home from school, before dinner, if I let him.

Buy them all menstrual cups.

The physical toll on the mums body of pregnancy/breastfeeding/pregnancy/breastfeeding without a break. It may not affect some people that much, but it triggered some health complaints that didn't get better until about 3 months after I stopped breastfeeding.

Likewise having a long period of poor sleep is probably going to be worse for your body than 2 shorter periods with some better quality sleep in the middle.
