  • PCOS and pregnancy

This might be a really silly question but when you have PCOS your hormones are all over the place... So when you do get PG, do your hormones just automatically kick in and balance out to what they need to be?

I would be interested to hear the answer as well LittleDove!
I had heard that often PCOS goes away after pregnancy cos the hormones level out so would be interested to hear others knowledge?

      Hi!
PCOS CAN go away after preg... Basically when you get pregnant ur body "resets itself" for lack of a better term... My doc was telling me that u may not have any of the health issues after being pregnant... But u may still be exactly the same... Sadly no one can predict wat will happen u just have to wait n see.
I have PCOS n am currently 31w with my first... I haven't experienced any hormonal imbalances... And I've had a pretty bad preg with sickness etc... Wether that's associated to it or not... My doc doesn't think so... But this is wat I've found out so far

      Hope this helps

Yes as per PP stated, your body CAN return to 'normal' after pregnancy apparently.

I've got PCOS and bubs has just weaned from breastfeeding (apart from 1 night feed) so will see if my cycles miraculously return to normal. I certainly hope so as bubs#1 was via IVF thanks to PCOS

Hello. Just saw this thread and had to reply.
My answer is YES! I guess not for everyone but did for me.

I have PCOS and we used Clomid then FSH injections (last try before IVF, took 3 weeks of injecting to ovulate!) to conceive my DD (now 4) as I didn't ovulate on my own. When she was about 14 months from memory I got a period! I was still BFding BTW. 2 months later I recognized I Od again and got another period. About a month later DH and I discussed TTC again and I called and booked an appointment with our fertility specialist (and stopped BFding). 10 days after that conversation I saw I was about to Ovulate again so we did the deed and .... Yep I got pregnant - and it felt good to cancel my FS appointment!! My periods came back regularly when my son was about 13 months (I'd just stopped BFing). My son is now 2 and I am still ovulating.

So there can be good news!
Good luck ladies. It can be a tough road but it's all worth it!!

For me I do believe pregnancy helped me to reduce the impact PCOS has on me, although I count myself pretty lucky because at the end of the day I fell Pg successfully after 5 cycles with one mc the month prior with no fertility treatment. My weight after pg fell off of me, starting weight when ttcing 92 kg, start of pg I got it down too 85kgs and after pg 72kg, I'm now currently 75kg and my DS will be a year old in two weeks
My skin during pg was the best it's ever been, I had no acne what so ever but now it's starting to come back. AF reared her ugly head when DS was around 6mths old and fully breast fed (lucky me ) I know I ovulated before AF arrived and continue to do so, my cycles returned to a 32 day cycle after two 28day cycles however this cycle was 28days.
A friend of mine with PCOS also looses weight while pg.
I have said in the past the pregnancy rewrote the wrongs in my body, well at least for a little while

Come on hubby let's go and make baby #2 pretty please, I'm so clucky
DSD, DS = soon to be 1

Yes..that's right. For me too. It went. My baby is 3 now .I used to breastfeed and may be due to that everything is normal now. I had checkups and ultrasound scan and doc told that everything is normal now.
