I didn't really enjoy Lone Pine I have to say, and neither did my husband who used to visit it years ago. It's very run down and a lot of the animals there seemed to have seen better days. All in all it was a bit depressing, especially having been to Australia Zoo the week before (we had a friend over from the UK, and were showing her around the area).
When we went it was packed with very badly behaved kids too which probably didn't help with the overall ambience.
Overall, it seems to be more of a photo factory for tourists than a real zoo these days. Everywhere you went was have your photo taken with this creature or that for $$. Neither of us would really recommend it to anyone unless you're desperate to see every animal park in the area.

We are such big fans of Lone Pine. We live close by and visit every two weeks. There is so many animals to see and such a variety.
There are lots of koalas scattered all over the place and there is always something interesting to see. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
Must See: there is a eating area outside where you can eat at the tables surrounded by alot of koalas which is our highlight each time.
They also have a great cafe at the front with a beautiful view of the river to relax and enjoy a coffee while the kids play of the playground.
We highly recommend you to visit Lone Pine.
