Situated five kilometres north of popular Victor Harbor, the Urimbirra Wildlife Park is a 40-acre open-range wildlife park which includes 16 acres of wetland bird sanctuary.
Urimbirra gives you the chance to see more than 70 species of Australian fauna in their natural surroundings.
I can't speak highly enough of this Wildlife Park. We took DS for a visit and had to take our pram which did pretty well on the gravel paths. You need to take a good chunk out of your day to explore this place, even once you've seen everything you won't want to leave!
Entry prices were very reasonable and all proceeds go towards the upkeep of the land and its animals. The animals were all quite tame, if they wanted to be left alone they simply avoided you. However there were still plenty of kangaroos and wallabies who were happy to eat out of your hand, and would follow you around for more food pellets (available at the front desk on entry for a very small price, I'd recommend getting two if you like feeding the animals).
The souvenir shop is amazing. It has items which you can't find in other souvenir shops which was very refreshing. There are lots of things especially for young children. Our son adored his sleepy koala plush toy that had its own night hat and pillow. The souvenir prices were all very reasonable and proceeds also went to the upkeep of the park.
If you're planning on going to Victor Harbour for the weekend, definitely make this one of your must-see stops. It makes for a fantastic family trip and I can't wait to go back.
