i was lucky enough to recive this book to review, and despite being a busy mum of five, it was easy and enjoyable read.
as a mother of a child with austism, rachel's story was insightful and touching on a deep level. i could readily relate to the struggles she endured in learning about her son, and the questions and confusion that come with it., as each child with ASD is different, so is their story, and i enjoyed reading rachels and bens story, so diffrent from mine, yet similar. for this reason i would readily reccomend this book for other mums with special needs kids, it just gave a sense of ' im not alone'.
what i found intersesting was rachel making connections between quirks and characteristic of her family and herself, and seeing them in ben. it just makes her sons autism seem more understandable and relatable for people who dont really understand autism, but it is not something that is talked about in the public arena. seeing it done in such a elequent and insightfull way, makes this book great for anyone.
it is a lovely story and im pleased ot have had the chance to read it, as it is not something i would normally pick up, but i enjoyed it thouroughly, and will be passing it around my cirlce of friends and family
