Hello, and welcome to the environmentally friendly July edition of Hubbub (no printing allowed!). As the images may give away, our theme this month is A Guide to all Things Green.

Thinking locally and acting globally, July's articles cover a wide range of topics sure to interest everyone. You'll read about what to look for in an eco-friendly disposable nappy; how to combat heartburn during pregnancy; how to keep your inner balance through food; even how best to keep your house energy efficient.

Want more? Fantastic, because we've added in new sections and pages to the site, keeping in line with our green theme. Check them out below in our popular New Features section.

As parents, we play a major role in our effect on our environment, and there are many, many green buzz words around. Here are a just a few to help you navigate your way through it all:

Biodegradable: a product made of natural materials that can be broken down into simple compounds and easily absorbed back into the ecosystem without harm if it has been in contact with heat, moisture or micro organisms.
Carbon Footprint
: a measure of the amount of carbon dioxide emitted through the combustion of fossils fuels. It can be measured individually as well as globally, or even according to a particular activity, such as flying when going on holidays.
Food Miles: a measurement of the distance food travels from where it is grown to where it is consumed. The lower the food miles the better.
Renewable Energy: energy obtained from sources that don't run out, unlike coal and oil - eg wind, solar, wood and waste.

Let us know if you would like us to feature a full list on the site.

On a Serious Note

As many of you would be aware, an unfortunate situation transpired last month involving the untimely passing of young twins in Brisbane. Through subsequent sensationalism and poor investigatory journalism in the media, Bub Hub received unecessary flack. Read more on that here...

We would like to reiterate our support for the fantastic moderators who volunteer their time to police the forum, and to our wonderful forum members who welcome and accept each others points of views and idiosyncratic quirks with open arms.

We are confident that the Bub Hub forum remains one of the best places for parents to get online support from their peers. Our hearts go out to the family of the twins, and we urge anyone needing professional help to make contact with those who know how to help you best. Parenting has it's tough days for all of us, but we don't have to do it on our own.
