QV Kids balm has really worked for my daughter (see my review of Elidel) but needs to be used daily without fail. QV didn't clear up my daughters eczema but once the prescription creams cleared it up, the QV balm kept it moisturised to prevent further break outs and flare ups. I found it took a couple of weeks initially for my daughters skin to really benefit and look moist- and you need to keep up the applications. Any emollient would probably work as well but I found QV did not sting when applied. It is hard to find the big tubs in chemists and I had a tube in my nappy bag and one in her childcare bag for applications during the day. Now she is 2 she only needs one application at night after a bath with QV bath oil. I try to remember what my GP who recommended the product said - aim to make her a slippery eel!!! Oh - and controlling eczema takes a number of things including avoiding anything that will dry out or irritate the skin - the two things that really worked was using all cotton clothing (difficult to find for winter bubs) and I put off swimming lessons until she was 2. I have used QV balm for 2 years now and it has really helped. Am now using it on my 4 month bub who developed eczema at 3 months.

My DS had moderately bad eczema (some weeping, very red and puffy over tummy, legs, neck and creases). This cream was just not heavy enough to help the skin heal. I found zinc and castor oil (any brand that was made to the pb recipe, not sudocreme) did the job.

Our GP recommended this for my daughters dry skin and eczema and it is brilliant. Its an intensive moisturiser that really gets into the skin without stinging. We used it at every nappy change all over her body and especially after a bath. At a young age she didn't like being handled around her arms and neck but now she is older she is almost used to it.
The cream is a little sticky and thick but its great for dry dry skin. Great on mums elbows too :) It comes in a big tub or smaller tubes you can take out with you. Her eczema has since gone but I still use the remaining cream to massage her instead of almond oil and she loves it.
