I had to express every day for 5 months (just 60ml to mix with my ds's medicine) and I tried with a manual pump for a week, then I bought a mini electric pump instead. Wow, what a difference! It is so small, so light, and so easy to use. I was able to express over 200ml in under 10 minutes when required with minimal fuss. It was so much easier on my muscles than the manual pump and heaps quicker.
I did use a hospital grade electric medela pump (on hire) for a few days when my ds was in special care and I think that the mini electric is probably better, as I was able to express just as much milk, but without the need to have bulky equipment next to me, plugged into a powerpoint. The suction cup for the breast is just a hard plastic cup and yes, that could be improved, but it does the job and I didn't find it painful. Sterilising and washing was simple ... it went in my microwave steriliser without any problems.

I've been using this pump for three months, 2-3 times weekly since my baby was born. As this is my first child I had no experience with pumps but purchased this one because I'd heard medela was a good brand and didn't want to purchase the swing (too expensive) in case I didn't use it much. I've found the mini electric to be easy to use.
The adjustable suction means I can increase or decrease depending how the milk is flowing. It's quite quick, I'm now able to express 100-150 mls in ten or so minutes. It is a little noisy, but I barely notice now. Whilst in NZ recently, I found medela expressed milk storage bags which are fantastic. They attach straight to the pump without the need for a bottle, and once filled can be put straight into the fridge or freezer - really handy. Overall, I'd recommend the medela mini electric to anyone wanting a simple and easy to use pump.

I found this very easy and efficient. by the time I weaned at 12 weeks I was able to express 200ml in 10 minutes! there are less parts than the other pump I had and it was easy to pull apart. i stuck it in the milton along with everything else. It was compact enough to be able to take with me when I had to express feed and took rechargeable batteries. Sure it was noisy, but aren't all portable ones? I was able to operate it with one hand and it was easy to adjust. I only wish my husband hadn't drowned the motor and rendered it useless. I will be buying another one when I have another child!

I've found this pump to be quite good, it is noisy though and i've found that it doesn't get as much milk out as what one of my manual pumps does, it is easy to use though and easy cleaning and sterilising, spare parts are easy to sorce if you need them, over all this is a good pump

I have been using the Mini Electric since my son was 6 weeks old and have found it to be a fairly good pump. It was fairly easy to use, but a bit heavy and bulky with the battery pack on top. I found the suction part slightly uncomfortable as I have large aureole and small, slightly inverted nipples, but this improved as I fed my son longer.
It has adjustable suction strength so you can use it more comfortably. I would have liked it more if it had been a bit less noisy, impossible to pump and feed at the same time. Easy enough to sterilise, the worst part to clean was where the milk flows down into the bottle, it's tiny and only a cotton bud would fit in it. Overall, a larger more flexible surface area for the contact part would make this product a lot more comfortable but overall, it gets the job done with little fuss.
