Have you done the rounds of local attractions? Many cities have low or no-cost attractions and often it is the locals who never get around to visiting them!

Low-cost activities for kids
Sometimes the best things in life ARE free ... just think beaches, parks, libraries and shopping centres.
Beaches: If you live close, or relatively close, to the coast why not take the kids to the beach for the day!
Parks: Most towns are cities are full of parks and spaces for kids to play. Read our parents reviews of local parks to find a great one near you!
Libraries: The weekly free storytime and rhyme time sessions at local libraries are often not on during school holidays but are replaced by activity sessions for school aged children. Sessions are often free or low cost. Check out your local council or library website for more details.
Shopping centres: Don't forget about your local shopping centres - they often put on some free school holiday entertainment.
Get Active these school holidays
There are plenty of ways to get active during the school holidays.
Swimming pools: Kids love swimming! Find out the opening times of your local pool then head on down there ... don't forget to slip, slop, slap first of course!
Swimming lessons: Some pools might even often intensive swimming classes during the school holidays. Find your local swim school and see if they offer them.
Sports classes: Check out school newsletters and local sports club to see if they are offering any sports classes during the school holidays. Often clubs will run intensive courses during holidays.
Art, drama, cooking classes for kids
Sport courses aren't the only way to learn a new skill during the holidays. Why not enrol your child in an art, drama or cooking class for kids. Who knows ... maybe next semester they can start cooking your dinner!
You can even check out some foreign language courses for kids ... so they can say 'bon appetit' when they serve you your dinner!
The no-plan option!
If you're stuck for something to do one day there are plenty of things to do that don't need planning or booking.
Drop into your local indoor playcentre
Head to the cinema or catch a Babes in Arms session if you've got smaller kids.
Drop into a kid-friendly restaurant where you can meet up with your friends and give yourself a break while the kids enjoy playing.
