Pregnancy Calendar - Week 35

Posted in: 3rd trimester

Time to catch up with friends and get your nursery organised. Luckily you can do both at once if you let your friends throw you a baby shower!

Your body

Time for the last of your routine blood tests, checking for pregnancy anaemia and other screenings if you are Rhesus negative.

It is also a popular time in pregnancy for baby showers to take place. With these usually planned by one of your close friends, these days baby showers are a fun way to get together with friends that you may not see as much in the first few months of early parenthood.

They can be themed with chic, modern games to play for a good giggle, or they can be relaxed family affairs where generations take a moment to reflect on the births and joys of their families with you, reassuring you that birth and motherhood (something you may be unsure of at this point of the pregnancy) is the best time of your life.

With your baby moving into a head-down position, you are likely to see your belly change shape a little, dropping down and sitting out a bit further.

If you haven't already started, now definitely is the time to begin getting your baby's nursery kitted out. The list of things you need to have to care for your new arrival may seem daunting, but with a little planning and some budgeting, the task will be complete before you know it (and hopefully before your baby arrives!). Because your baby grows so much in the first year, it is advisable to consider hiring some nursery items that are only needed for a short time.

Your baby

Sized at approximately 44cm (head to rump) and weighing around 2.4kg, the antibodies continue to flow from your body into your baby's, and they continue to fatten up, although not enough that they are able to easily regulate their own body temperature at birth or for the first few weeks afterwards.
