WA Museum Holiday Events

WAmuseumholidaysWA school holidays are just about here! There are much more fun things to do than having your kids spend those two weeks around the house, or at the local park – so if you’re stuck for what to do with the kids these holidays, check out the Western Australian Museum!

They are hosting a range of cool events and shows to keep the kids entertained and busy while they aren’t at school – and they might even sneak some education into these cool shows too.

WA Museum – Perth

Ivy’s Imaginative Bingo Trail

Dates: 28 September – 13 October
Times: 9.30am – 4.30pm
Ages: Ages 4 +
Cost: Free
Bookings: No bookings required

Step in to the fantastical world of Ivy, the cleaning lady who sees objects a little differently to most! Race against your friends and family in the fun bingo trail through the Museum’s galleries and see Ivy’s favourite exhibits through her ‘expert’ eyes.

Dinosaur Island

Dates: 30 September – 4 October, 7 – 11 October
Times: 9.30am; 12pm; 2.30pm (50 minute sessions)
Ages: All ages
Cost: Free
Bookings: No bookings required

Create your own dinosaur-themed artwork to add to the growing Dinosaur Island installation in Hackett Hall!

Animal Imaginarium

Dates: 1 – 13 October
Times: 9.30am – 4.30pm
Ages: Ages 4 +
Cost: Free
Bookings: Only required for groups of 10+ on 9427 2836

Everyday objects are not as they seem! Use your creative powers to create extraordinary creatures from ordinary things to add to the Animal Imaginarium in the Discovery Centre!

WA Maritime Museum

Whale Wonders

Dates: 1 – 4 October, 7 – 11 October
Times: 9.30am – 5.30pm
Ages: 3+
Cost: Activities range from free to $3 each. Museum entry fees apply ($10 adults; $3 children; $5 concession; $22 family of two adults, two children)
Bookings: No bookings required.

Get wild about whales at the WA Maritime Museum these October holidays! Explore fun facts, play games, and discover more about our favourite gentle giants of the sea while you make and decorate your own whale Skyswimmer Kite to take home!

WA Museum – Shipwreck Galleries

Scrimshaw and Sails

Dates: 1 – 4 October, 7 – 11 October
Times: 10am – 2pm (Whale Tales at 11am and 1pm)
Cost: Activities range from free to $3 each
Age: 3+
Bookings: Only required for groups of 10+ on 9431 8469

In the grand old sailor’s tradition of carving on whale teeth, come and design a pattern on your own Scrimshaw Candle to take home, or join us for free whale tales and salty sea stories!
