As every Mum knows, the process of finding the perfect nappy can be super challenging and involves a whole load of trial and error (and sometimes a bit of mess in there too!).
It is definitely one of the most important things to get right, as it can often be the difference between a blissful night of uninterrupted sleep versus grizzly wet baby at 2am!
Nothing drains the grocery budget faster than having two kids in nappies, let me tell you! I have a 9 month old regular nappy user and an almost 3 year old toddler who uses nappies only overnight now (yay!).
Despite the budget aspect, I am after a nappy that is not only affordable but works too. So when I was asked to join the 5 Day Nappy Change and review the new Coles Little Explorer range, I had my fingers (and toes) crossed that these were just what I needed.
In the Coles Little Explorer Nappy range, I tried out the Crawler size on my 9 month old baby girl. This comes in a convenience sized 30 pack which is generally enough to see me through a good 4 or 5 days in an average week.
First up, I must admit when reading the pack, I was super impressed by the level of obvious research that Coles have done in developing this range. It is evident that some clever person (most likely a Mum!) has done their homework and combined the best features from the various different brands and rolled them in to one clever little nappy!
My first impressions of the brand were positive – I am a sucker for anything that works with my nursery decor after all. 🙂
The gender neutral design is perfect as these nappies are designed to be worn by little ladies and lads alike!
But aesthetics aside, I was actually very surprised at how plush and soft the nappy was with its quilted top sheet design. Whenever I think ‘home brand’ I automatically think of nappies as thin as paper, but these very much dispel this misbelief with an ultra soft inner lining and side cuffs as soft as, well, a baby’s bottom in a decent nappy!
The design of the nappy with soft leg cuffs and stretchy waistband ensured a snug fit on my little bambino. The clever design coupled with the 3 layer Dry-tech core kept leakage (and any sign of #2 explosions) at bay, much to my relief.
My daughter also has ultra sensitive skin and has on more than one occasion broken out with a rash when wearing certain brands of nappies. So I was pleasantly surprised that these were perfect on her delicate skin – no redness, chafing, or signs of a rash in sight.
We all know that daytime nappy use can be a bit more straightforward than the night-time minefield. So when I first tried these overnight, I was a little bit nervous… but these did not cause any disruption to the overnight sleep (thank goodness) and my daughter was relatively dry in the morning, courtesy of that clever little Dry-Tech Ultra Absorbent core. I would have no hesitation in introducing these around the clock in our home.
In terms of the hip pocket, for the Crawler pack of 30 nappies this equates to approx 33c per nappy versus 50c with one of the more popular nappy brands – a BIG saving when you go through as many as I do in a week (and that is not including my toddler!).
If the thought of trying something new in the nappy department makes you a little bit nervous, rest assured that Coles do offer a full money back and satisfaction guarantee on their products, so you can be confident that if they don’t meet your expectations, a refund can be made!
So will you be making the 5 Day Nappy Change?
