My almost-caesarean birth story

“I never been so scared in all my life”

On the 1st of February I was 39 weeks and 6 days pregnant – my due date was February 2. I wasn’t ready for DS to come out because I was so in love with being pregnant and I was very scared about giving birth.

At 1.30am on the 2nd of February my water broke and contrations started – they went from 7 mins apart to 4 mins apart. I quickly woke up my partner and we were on our way.

When we got to the hospital and I could hardly walk and the pressure was insane!

I told my midwife that the baby was coming and coming now. They got me into bed and checked how dilated I was and wanted to check the baby’s heartbeat.

They couldn’t find his heartbeat. I completely freaked out and my midwife said that we would have to do a emergency c-section!

I never been so scared in all my life! They wheeled me upstairs and were about to put me under when I heard a doctor say “next contraction … PUSH!”.

I pushed and pushed and pushed and after a couple more pushes my DS was born at 5.50am weighing 5 pounds 13 ounces.

I was so proud and even more happy that only 4 per cent of babies are born on their due date.

Thanks to mum Youngish87 for sharing her story.
