Donate your leftover nappies to help those in need!

A stack of disposable nappiesDo you have a small pile of leftover unused nappies?

Maybe a heap of newborn nappies that your little one grew out of quickly.

Maybe you’re one of the lucky ones whose toddler toilet trained easier and earlier than you anticipated. If so, I’m jealous.

Anyway – there’s a thing called The Nappy Collective and all of us with leftover nappies can now donate them to people in need.

The Nappy Collective runs three drives a year and they supply nappies to a growing list of more than 40 organisations that support families in crisis or in need.

Last year, in their August drive, parents around Australia collectively donate more than 81,468 leftover unused nappies in two weeks. Most of them would otherwise have ended up in landfill.

The Nappy Collective founder Sandra Jacobs says there is an urgent need for material aid for mothers fleeing family violence.

“Donating unused nappies assists these families to focus on longer term, deeper care of their children by relieving them of short-term challenges and stress,” Sandra says.

“We aim to make it simple and easy for many people to help struggling families in need through collective giving.”

We are proud to help support this initiative so if your nearest nappy drop-off point is too far away then we are happy to collect any nappies from rural or regional Australians who’d still like to support this worthy cause. We’ve started a forum thread on how you can send us your leftover nappies so that everyone can take part in the drive.

  1. I think this is the good way to help other poor people who cannot afford nappies for their kids. Donating leftover nappies can really help them.
