When life with a newborn is a little too leaky

Philips Avent Breast Pads

You hear many words used to describe life with a newborn.

Exhilarating. Exhausting. Tedious. Tough. Breathtaking. Bewildering.

But you might not have heard this one …  leaky.

First of all, your baby leaks – and occasionally explodes- from both ends. Sometimes while sleeping.

And you’re a bit leaky too (and I’m not even talking about your weakened pelvic floor!).

When you’re just starting to breastfeed it is very common to leak breastmilk in between feeds.

You might leak if your baby is overdue for a feed. You might leak at the sound of your baby crying. You can even leak just thinking about your baby! This can be embarrassing if you’re at the supermarket.

You can also leak while you’re asleep. The first time my baby slept through a night feed I woke up in a veritable pool of breastmilk. As if I wasn’t doing enough washing already!

The best way to guard against these leaks is to find a reliable and absorbent breast pad.

You want something thin and discreet for those awkward moments when you open your wallet at the checkout, see a picture of your new baby and spring a leak.

And you want something thicker and extra absorbent for those nights where you lie in hope of more than two hours sleep at a time.

Philips Avent is the only brand to offer breast pads specifically for day and night use.

Philips Avent Day Disposable Breast Pads are thin and contoured, making them invisible under clothes. Perfect for day use. The The Philips Avent Night Disposable Breast Pads are thicker and more absorbent for use at night.

They both are feature a silky soft topsheet and breathable, natural materials. They are dermatologically tested and are anti-slip due to adhesive tapes to keep the breast pad in place.

Philips Avent Disposable Breast Pads also feature a unique four-layered construction for maximum dryness

  1. Ultra soft top layer with nipple indent- keeps breast dry at all times.
  2. Ultra absorbent layer, cushioned for extra comfort.
  3. Ultra absorbent core- draws in moisture to guard against embarrassment.
  4. Ultra breathable outer layer- helps avoid sore nipples.
