From my post at BubHub: http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/f...t=82044&page=4

AP is something I aspire to, and the mums at my kids school actually call me the 'earth mother', as I rock up to pick up my kids 90% of time with babba in a sling, in cloth nappies, with my homebirthing sticker on my car etc, but put me in a group of real earth mothers, and they'd probably call me mainstream, as 10% of the time babba is in a double buggy with his 3 year old brother, during the day he sleeps in a basinette, it is only at night we co-sleep, and that is probably waaaay to much non-AP to truly qualify as AP, if that makes sense?! I am also known to get a bit 'passionate' (ie, I shout probably too much....so need to work on the gentleness a considerably huge amount!)

I'd like to define a new style of parenting, and it encompasses ALL styles..... it is SP for short.....'Survivalist Parenting'. 2 rules only: 1) You do whatever it is you have to do to get through the day in one piece, and 2) if what you are doing is coming from a place of love for your child, it is the right thing to be doing.

No matter what style of parenting we subscribe to, we all have sh*tty days, dont we, when we wonder if what we are doing is actually working, if what we are doing is going to suffocate us.....and then just when we think we have reached the end of our ability to cope, we have beautiful gorgeous days where we are proud advocates of the parenting choices we are making, as those choices fit us and our children like a glove.

Lets all share the love Diversity is a good thing !

if I didnt have that song ringing in my head, I'd have exploded with frustration....

just thought I'd vent.

I've just finished cleaning up after my son who is toilet-learning....

he was wearing shorts today, with no nappy....and he has requested for me to help him got to the toilet on a couple of occasions...till about an hour ago...

my eldest yells out 'mum, there's poo everywhere, Oskars left a trail of poo'...

oh booger....I'd just sat down to give a boob to a grisly Noah.

Poor Noah.....with what I was presented with, I had to act fast. Noah has been crying at me for the past hour whilst I cleaned up the disaster.

poo trail from bottom of stairs, through loungeroom (so far not too bad, as its tiled)....trail continues through carpeted hallway and carpetted bedroom, with a major deposit of the stuff in the middle of the bedroom floor.

First, we clean off Oskar. Then we set about the task of cleaning all the floors. Hands and knees, and thank God I use cloth terries, as I used the micro-fibre boosters to clean up the mess.

Well, after much scrubbing, and finally settling poor babba Noah after him screaming at me as I scrubbed, I am now sitting here with my gone-cold coffee, gathering my sanity back.....

If my husband walks in tonight and says 'it doesnt look like you've done much today'....God help me, as there will be domestic violence inflicted upon him......

Sometimes women feel like they lose themselves after they get married and have children.

Being a wife and mother is not all that you are.

Being a wife and mother is something that you choose to do.

Dont forget YOU.

If you take care of YOU, then you will put more love and happiness into your mothering of your children and 'lovering' of your partner.....and every other relationship you have.

today there is a slob day occuring in our house, as daddy is at a conference.....havoc is being wreaked about the house, as mummy has got caught up in a religious discussion.....

surrounded by books, toys, bread (?)....hungry children....I guess I'll go dish up some soup, seems like the kids are helping themselves with rumbly tummies...recent events in the past half hour: DS2 decide to have shower, as 'his skin smelt funny'.....DS3 is running round in the nuddy in the effort to do some toilet learning. DS1 is being a couch potato in front of the telly, and
DS4 is asleep at my boob....

yep, today I'm a bad mother. I want to invite britney round and tell her she is normal. From mother to mother....just wont tell her her music is ****e.....

4 children keeps me v v busy, but on the days the 2 eldest boys are at school, I am surprised I ever thought that having just 2 under the age of 3 ever stressed me - easy peasy.....(of course, till 3pm )

It's not as bad as people think....where there is a will there is a way.....

I think your eldest will always be your hardest, as they are your 'practice' child, where you learn everything for the first time. Once you've learnt the phases and stages, you pretty much kick into auto-pilot for any other children you have. And, I am a crazy woman who would have more if my DH would let me

That just looks like the perfect size family to me (might get there some day, only got 1 at the moment). What is it like to have 4 kids?
