Hi All! I have a 10 month old who was only introduced to solids at 6+ months. I currently feed her all different types of vegies & fruit but have not yet introduced her to any meat. She is finally getting her first tooth through now.
Is it ok to start her on chicken? Should I wait until more teeth are through for her to chew meat? Any recipe ideas on how to serve it to her? Toms1

Hi! I started my DS on meats after we had been through vegies and fruit, at about 7ish months?! We started of with boiled chicken meat (chop up chicken into about 5 cm pieces, put in saucepan with some water and boil until cooked through), pureed and I mixed it in with his normal vegies, the first time he tried it he didn't really like it, I think it has a pretty strong taste! We tried beef (cooked the same way) a while later, which he doesn't like so still working on it!

My bubs has been eating meat not on & off for approx 2mths he is currently 9mths. That being said its up to you whether your happy to introduce it now.
My bubs goes through stages of refusing meats & im ok with that as he eats his veggies & fruits so its no drama for me. A good bit of advice i got from my CHN was to use a little bit of the gravy from your meal to mix in with the veggies as this gets them used to the taste i would also just start with the chicken as the taste isnt as bold as say beef. She also told me to let bub chew on a bone as long as it wasnt sharp which i have done if we have had something like a chop he likes that solves two probs for me the refusing meat & teething hehe ! The main thing is that you puree the meat after cooking & that all you need to do is add it in with whatever veggies you want to give bubs & if you just slowly add it then it isnt too much of a shock for them to reject it. The sites shelbyville has given are also great help. Goodluck.
