For a 6mth old I found the best things are mashed veges. Potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, spinich, beans, turnip. sweed, avacardo.
For fruit you can stew apples and pears. Add a bit of cottage cheese or yogurt to the fruit for something different. Pured meat, veges and pasta is good.

hi there,
i have used pumpkin and red lentils before, works really well just boil it up in minimum amount of water and then blitz with blender and freeze small portions. if you can keep some of the water to help thin it out it keeps the goodnessess ![]() rice doesn't work too well, so dont try that yet. too gluggy natalie

Hi. Farex wasn't popular, so we went straight to avocado which was a big hit! Now I cook up whatever vegies are in the fridge and whizz them up.
The last few meals has been a mixture of pumpkin, sweet potato, potato, zuccini and pear (pear is good for constipation) and a spoon of prune juice. I also had some refried beans left over and I read the label - they had no preservatives, salt etc so I mashed them up too and popped them in with the vegies. DS seems to love it. He doesn't even care if it's hot or cold. I might try some chicken soon. Good luck. |

At 6 months I was pushing chicken through a seive...(I know......) but I didnt have a food processor!!! I just broil it first.......now I broil minced chicken then place the stuff into ice cubes....ready to go. I do the same with beef bolognese which I then add to baby pasta or ice cube pop outs of mashed sweet potato....and a cube of brocolli sometimes........yummo!!!!
o's mom. P.S...Going to do cubes of lentil dahl for O next......freeze, freeze, freeze........

Not sure how old T is but O is 8 months and I chop the onion up v fine...as for the sauce...I use a can of tom puree..or those tetra bricks...so finely chopped fresh tomato, look for the ones withour sugar! I also add finely chopped carrot, but if you had a cube of finely chopped/mashed broccolli..toss this in too. Its pretty yum. O's mom. Actually if T is new to solids.....he might hate the mince! Mine was totally appaled when I first started to introduce 'lumps'. So......good luck! You might have to wait for this one! Last edited by flower; 04-09-2005 at 07:44 AM. Reason: added info |
