Default Riley Camden

Although it was 8 months ago,Ithought Iwould share my birth story!
Riley was due on the 12th October. On Saturday night, the 15th my bro was over and I had a glass of wine.Later i had a small period pain feeling start.I went to bed but it was quite annoying.
On sunday morning my bro came over and we went out shopping.I had lots of niggles, and he was taking forever looking at everything.By lunchtime I had had enough so we headed home.
I got home and went to the loo and discovered a show!!
I freaked out and rung my mum,I wanted to cry!!She told me to calm down!!all afternnon the contractions kept coming and going,we started timing them but they were so sporadiac we gave up.We went to bed that night, but I couldnt sleep coz of the pain.My stupid DF was sleeping like a baby, while I lay there in pain!!men!!
About 5am on Monday morning the 17th I went and got in the bath to help the pain, then tried to go back to sleep.
I dozed a little then got back in a hot shower and rung my mum at 7am.
The contractions kept going from 3 mins apart to about 7 and were only lasting about 30-40 seconds.I kept going to call the midwife but they kept stretching out
Finally at 8.30am I rung my midwife and she told me to meet her at hospital at 9am.I packed my bags, freaked out a little then we were on our way!
I had some horrible contractions on the way, doubling over in my seat.
We got to the hospital and they started timing my contractions, they still were very short.
I was examined and was 5cm.My midwife suggested some pethidine, then toddled off for ages!
She came back and suggested a hot bath!!I was like "what happened to the drug??"
so i went and got in the bath, with my DF pouring water over my belly when a contraction came. Then they wheeled in the gas.
I was just taking little bits and started laughing then the next min i wanted to cry!!
I had to get out of the bath that minute!!I got dressed and went back to my room.
My midwife said i had full bowels so had to try to do a poo
Nothing happened so she gave me an enema.that still didnt help so we gave up on the poo idea!!But i was terrified i would poo during labour!!!
I kept sucking the gas, then crying for my mum.I made DF ring her and she arrived about an hour later.
By then I was soooo out of it!!My midwives and Mum and DF were all eating MY lollies and going on about how great they were!!I was like"HELLO?!!??!"
I was lying on the bed with my mum behind me,and I started wanting to push.It was 3pm.My midwife held my hands and i had to try to push into her.
I dont really remeber much,I just closed my eyes and blocked evrything out except the pushing.
After an hour or so,we werent getting anywhere. My mum got so upset she had to leave(poor mum)
I kept standing up to help the baby get down, but after a few pushes i was too tired so i just lay back down on the bed.
I started screaming"i cant do it anymore!!!"
My DF was soooo great,he held my hand and told me I could do it.I kept sucking on the gas then throwing it back at him when i had to push.
Finally the head started crowning. My DF said"hes got hair!!"
I didnt give a flying ****!!I just wanted it out!!!!!
Finally I started making some progress.I felt an intense burning sensation and his head was out.A few thousand more pushes(or so it felt)he came slipping out!!It was 5.18pm
My DF was spose to catch him but it was so touch and go,he had to step back.
I didnt hear any crying and was looking down and all the midwives were rushing round and getting oxygen and slapping the baby.
I was yelling,is he ok??is he breathing??
He was fine, just a little stunned!!
They popped him on my tum,and my DF cut the cord.I was staring at him in wonder,it was so weird that at the start of the day he was still in my tummy and now here he was!!!
He was all purply/gery and had yucky blood and stuff in his hair!!
Then i had to push again, and the placenta came sloshing out!!it was such a relief!!it felt like going for a pee after you had been busting for hours!!!
Then they latched him on the boob and he had a wee feed.
My DF took him to our room, while i went and had a shower.
I felt pretty good, guess the gas and adrenalin helped with that!!!
We named him Riley Camden.Camden after my lil brother that dies when he was 11 weeks old.
He wieghed 3.8kg,53 cm long and had lots of dark hair!!
Im really proud that I did it all with only gas.The 2 and a half hours of pushing really sucked. He had his shoulder kinda stuck and his head on the side so it made it hard to come out.His head was all bruised, and was shaped like a cone!!and his right arm was weaker than his other so he favoured his left for a few days.after a day or 2 his brusing and cone went down.
8 months later, hes doing really well!!Thanks for reading my story, its lovely to remember that special day over and over again!!

Hey Chels

I love your story. It made me start thinking about the day I had Aleah.

I love reading birth stories, it sure does bring back memories. I only had the gas too. I was begging for an epi but it ended up being too late - i'm kina glad it was now.

Great story!
