Hi guys,
My DS (3 1/2) started Kindy this year and I am going crazy trying to come up with yummy, tempting food to pack in his lunchbox. He eats like a sparrow and is really, really fussy (strange enough though, not when it comes to junk food). As a baby, he loved his fruit and vegies but now he just wont touch them. I have enough trouble getting him to eat at home but now the kindy is saying that he wont eat for them and that I should try some new ideas........arghhhhh!! The kindy has a "healthy food only" policy and anything that looks remotely healthy my son just wont eat - any ideas??? Thanks in advance. |

My staples are cashews (if there a no tree nut allergies), popcorn, yakult, nutrigrain (just dry eaten as biscuits), sultanas, dried apricots, cruskits, corn thins, cheerios, chopped vegies such as red capsicium, carrots, mushrooms, healthy banana bread (can post recipe if you want), fruit cake, rice crackers, different fruits, pretzels, yoghurt and grated cheese in a small plastic container.
That is about it

I make up batches of wholemeal based pikelets and refrigerate or freeze them and then spread them with a little bit of butter in the morning. Also mini quiches are nice in lunchboxes.

My children love dips they are so easy to make, It's amazing because you can give the carrot stick to dip in also rice crackers etc!

Have a look around at what the other children are bringing in their snack boxes when you're on kinder duty next.
My son loves nuts but there is a very strict 'no nut' policy in place at his kinder so I've been buying "Chic nuts"...they're chick peas which are roasted and salted and he loves them.

Thanks everyone - I will be trying a few of these ideas over the next few weeks. I would love the recipes for the banana bread & mini quiches......
Mamaduke - I am rostered on in 2 weeks and can't wait to check out the other kids lunchboxes!! The chick nuts sound good - where would I find them? |

I get them from Safeway (Woolies) and they're in a glass jar with a screw top lid (the jars are handy to re-use too). They're made by Partner foods.
