Default Crumb crust for cheesecake?

Help!! DH wants a new york style cheesecake for his birthday and all my recipe books are Canadian and use graham crackers to make a crumb crust. I can't seem to find them in any shops. Any ex-pats out there know a good substitute, or anybody have a good crumb crust recipe to share?

My Joy of Cooking suggests ginger snaps, but I think that may be too strong in flavor

PS - it's for a 10 inch springform pan. Thanks!

I usually use Marie biscuits.

The best recipe I have has a pinch of cinnamon together with the crumbs and butter.

Arrowroot or wheatmeal biscuits would be fine too.

Happy cheesecake making.

Thanks!

Aardvark, the recipe I'm looking at uses cardomon in the crust. Not sure how it will go!

They sell Honey Graham Crackers 14oz for $9.99 have you been there at all? They have all the American Foods and are fantastic. They will also post to you if you want. Thought you might be interested if you want that true yankee flavour

I use Granita biccies for a normal crust or choc ripple cookies for a chocolate crust.

Both Arnott's products.

Good luck!

I use Scotch Finger biscuits for cheesecake crusts. I crush them up and add melted butter to hold them together. Just take the weight of the biscuits mentioned in the recipe and choose what you fancy really
