Default KFC secret recipe!! (minus the yukky stuff everyone talks about!)

I've found another recipe for you gals to try...the KFC coating...
It does say to add 3 Tablespoons of MSG to the recipe...don't know about that!

Genuine KFC secret recipe
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp oregano
1 tbsp celery salt
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp dry mustard
4 tbsp paprika
2 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp ground ginger
3 tbsp MSG (Accent)

Mix all ingredients well in a large bowl.

Dip chicken pieces in beaten eggs
Then turn them over in regular bread crumbs (commercial)
Finally plunge them in the flour-spices mixture (above)

Heat oven to 350 degrees
Place chicken in a tray and cover with foil (shiny side out)
Cook 40 minutes.
Remove the foil then cook for another 40 minutes
Baste lightly with oil 5 minutes before the end
Let stand 5 minutes and serve.

That sounds good - it even has 11 "secret" herbs and spices (if MSG is counted as a spice).

Tell me - do you reckon it works without MSG????

Also - surely it has to be deep fried - wouldn't be KFriedC otherwise would it?

Okay - we'll probably try this one on the weekend, it's DH's birthday on Sunday and I've been looking for a good recipe for a special dinner - LOL.

Last request - can you get the Hot and Spicy recipe as well - that's my fav!

MSG is used as a 'flavour enhancer'...commonly added to commercially produced food products (eg. frozen dinners, instant soups, snackfoods) to make them taste more 'savoury'.
As for the 'fried'...didn't you know Pegasus...the fried part of KFC was taken out to trick us into thinking it's healthier now!!!
See what I can do re/hot & spicy!!!

Default hot and spicy crispy strips recipe...

Here's the hot and spicy crispy strips recipe...
(it states here that the MSG is not that important)

KFC Hot'N'Spicy Crispy Strips CLONE
If you love those crispy strips here a recipe that is sure to be to your tastes. These are nearly taste the same as crispy strips that are avaliable in Australia.
35 1/3 ounces skinless chicken breasts
vegetable oil (for deep frying)
MARINADE
8 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons msg
COATING
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
4 cups plain flour
2 tablespoons salt
2 teaspoons pepper
3 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons Mexican chili powder
2 teaspoons msg (isn't really important it just adds extra flavour)

4 servings
