Default Charlotte Rose's Debut

Well finally I have a few minutes to share our story.

On Friday the 20th of January at just after midnight Igot up to go to the toilet and hopped back into bed only to feel a massive gush of waters. So hopped up fixed myself up and then woke DH up and said " we are going to meet our baby". And you guessed it he wasn't ready - god love him.

However after phoning the midwife I decided to wait home a while and went in around 2.30am no regular contractions were forming and after some monitoring went home again and was told to come in at 7am to see my doctor. By 6am the contractions were starting to get to 5mins apart but were still managable. Presented back up at the hospital and after examination and only 2cm dilated was admitted to start a very long day. Everything kept starting and stopping and no matter what we did, walking etc nothing urged anything concrete.
So at 4pm my doctor decided to induce me using the drip - I really did not want this and sure enough the fun and games started. Worse contractions then I had had with my son that came every 2 mins and lasted approx 45secs. We used the shower, the ball, the beanbag, and finally the gas. At 7.50pm I asked the Doctor to examine me again as I was really getting the urge to push and she did and said only 7cm dilated you've probably still got a good three hours so no pushing yet. But with each contraction the urge was greater so while being told not to push I was on all fours on the bed half sitting and bearing down and pushing. Hopped up after about four of these contractions and said to DH go get the DR and the MW & DR came in and hit panic buttons as she was crowning. Charlotte was born at 8.15pm - a beautiful delivery no stitches and she weighted 6lb 15oz, was 50cm long and HC of 30.5. A perfect little angel. DH & I were just as overwhelmed as the first time - it was magical. Had trouble though with the placenta and ended up delivering it an hour later with the Dr helping manually to remove thank god no surgery there either. Certainly feel like my spirit guides were watching over me. All in all I'm pretty happy with her birth and she is just so precious. ( I am a little bias though)
Thanks for reading. Tara.
