Easter for us is spending time with family as we aren't religious.
Each year we take in turns where we spend easter so the grandparents don't miss out.
Wherever we are, it's always a fish lunch for Good Friday and a roast for Easter Sunday after we've stuffed our faces with chocolate

We haven't decided yet, DD1 is too young to understand yet... Not even sure if we're having fish on Friday or not...

grr cant fill it in.

It is THE most special time for us. It is when Jesus died for us...I loathe to tick it is a religious time.

Its not. It is emotional and amazing. But its not just a religious thing it goes beyond that.

Default fun times

means spending lots of time with the family, getting all the kids together and hunt for chocolate that we hid early that day. It means time to watch old family vids, eat lot of food, laugh and adventuly falling asleep where ever you land!

Default Family, Friends, Tolerance, & Understanding

Easter is a lovely time for us (and has been for 25 years as a family.)
We celebrate family and friends around us, we enjoy the 'magic' of the Easter bunny and chocolate, we talk about the history of Oestre, and how it gained its current significance from its historical origins as a fertility festival (thus eggs and rabbits , though no-one has ever managed to explain satisfactorily to me how chocolate got involved, but hell, I'm not complaining) and we often cover other celebrations of significance around the globe, especially given the extremely diverse range of kids at the school of the youngest and the level of desire from everyone to know everything, it sometimes seems. A beautiful, fun and special time of year for us!

I always feel sad that this fab celebration of Spring and fertility is inverted to the wrong season down under. I would love to be more connected to its real pagan meaning - while I eat chocolate and enjoy easter egg hunts. No longer Catholic so not a religious thing, but kudos to the church for keeping it on the calendar even if it was unintentional.
